Abstract
Research Question: To what extent was there evidence of class difference in the treatment of internment of Titanic victims following this 1912 disaster?
In this essay, I felt inspired to right the injustice that a majority of deceased passenger’s went through following the sinking of the R.M.S Titanic on April 15, 1912. Most importantly, I desired to reveal to the public that third class passenger’s, being the poor British worker to the fleeing Italian immigrant, where treated so poorly in death just as they were living.
I first began my research by reading a book that highlighted the backgrounds of the infamous 8 band members that played as the ship went down; it was in reading this I was first exposed to the injustice. Later on, I went to the University of Texas Arlington to use their databases and recover a large number of newspapers that covered the events that followed the sinking. I trusted …show more content…
While Titanic manages to remain a topic of interest on its 100th anniversary, little investigation is made or even publicized on the aftermath of the sinking to those who lost loved ones, or those who were left traumatized by the accident, instead the focus of attention is on the innovations of the Titanic or the romantic and tragic fiction love stories on it. Hopefully in the near future, the public can be better educated on the specific issues stated in this essay but for now this paper will remain a small but significant voice for the
