For the most of MacGregor's early years in Latin America, he bounced around in various military roles. He was a Royal Navy in 1803 at the age of sixteen and served in both the Spanish and Portuguese armies. He was a Colonel serving in the army of the General of Venezuela in 1811 fighting for independence from Spain under Simon Bolivar who had fought in Florida in 1817. He was generally well regarded as a soldier and a military leader and appeared to be successful. MacGregor fame as a military man and his exploits were known to the British public. Fame did not guarantee wealth and coming from a family with more history than money was to lure riches to MacGregor. What MacGregor did was very cunning on the Poyais scheme. Probably one of the most brazen confident tricks in history. MacGregor had invented an entire country who just walked away with millions. But investing into something like that do have its pros and cons. Pros of investing into something new can bring a new life. The cons about it there is not guaranteed return and suffer.
