Slave Diary Entries

I work forty hours a week. I got to college two nights a week and take an online class as well. I cook, clean and take care of kids on my own. I am tired. No one is my home respects me. I feel like my own family has made me into their slave. My husband’s expects me to take care of everything and everyone. The supper I cook is always superb. Now ironing, I draw the limit, just put them in the dryer or do it yourself. Then have the nerve to give me a B+ in bed. If I wasn’t so tired of doing everything on my own I could be more spontaneous. I will just leave him in bed to do that on his own. My son is calling me just average. A mediocre mom doesn’t go above and beyond for her children. Cook dinner and do their laundry every day. I take him and his friends around town anywhere they’d like to go. My house has been turned into this teenager hangout. I am not just an “okay,” Mom!
Pass? I am a phenomenal Mom! I let her do everything she wants. She never acknowledges how much I really do for her. If I disappeared they would be completely lost, then they make appreciate me. I’m going on vacation alone, I QUIT! When I come back we will see how much they treasure me. Not all Poems have a backstory that is obvious as “Marks” by Linda Pastan. In this particular case, I’m sure the backstory I have created is very accurate. Sometimes poems can be mean one think to the writer and the reader can interpret it completely
