In order to get a good nights sleep you should avoid eating heavy things and coffee or anything with caffeine because you will probably be bouncing off the walls instead of being relaxed. Reading can be a great way of tiring yourself because all that small print at any late hour just makes you tired. Before bed make sure that your room is at a good temperature, if you can't relax try taking deep breaths, count sheep whatever until you are relaxed enough to fall asleep. You should also forget about all your problems until the next day, worrying won't solve anything and just makes you anxious instead of relaxed, try thinking of peaceful things instead.
