Destruction of History, Thru Technology.
Do smart phones hinder interaction with family? When is the right time to put down these electronics, and communicate with our loved ones? In earlier years stories were passed thru generations giving us amazing pieces of literature, such as Beowulf, The Iliad, and The Odyssey. Now days we cannot even put the phones down at the dinner table to tell our families how are days were. The trend of how American people communicate seems to show that most families communication may one day cease due to overabundent phone use. As a wise once man said “In every conceivable manner, the family is link to our past, bridge to our future.” (Haley) Meaning phones cannot teach us what is important, or tell us tales of previous generations within our family tree. Modern families tend be ignorant to their family’s heritage, commonalities, and even family traditions. Things seem to get lost in the barrier of technology; people can’t seem to put down these spectacular phones that have made great strides and advancements in recent years.
Heritage, “the traditions, achievements, beliefs, etc., that are part of the history of a group or nation”. (Webster) The American people wouldn’t be able to give you this definition, or what their family heritage is, possibly not even the ancestery of their family. Where as many Greeks consider their ancestry as part of their family tree, and do their best to learn it. When asked about the American youth’s father, or grandfather’s trials and tribulations, could they answer with complete certainty? They could not. Primogeniture is an exclusive right of inheritance belonging to the eldest son. The current civilizations could not handle such a big task such as taking a kingdom, watching over the people, or quite possibly even inheriting a plot of land to farm on. They would be thrown into doing everything their fathers and grandfathers did with no idea how to accomplish day to day
