What can smoking do to people? Generally smoking has been giving a result of killing 6 million people each year (“Smoking Death Worldwide “ n.d.). And about 6,000 dollars a year are wasted for a person to smoke one pack a day for a year (“Answers” n.d.), that is why people called smoking the slowly death. In fact, many people starting to smoke when they were teenager during parties, social situations, and some stress in their life. Teenager sometimes they do not know what they are doing because they are always try new thing to act like one of their family or friends, also they think smoke is a cool thing, but they do not think of what smoking is hiding for them in the future. Smoking has many causes and effects. The most important causes are emotional and social situations, and the most important effects are health and financial issues.

Emotional situations have changed many people life from good to bad and make it difficult to return to the good life. These emotions can cause love, hate, happiness, and sadness some people emotional situations make them start to smoke when they feel themselves under pressure or broken a relationship. And sometimes this emotional make people feel empty and there is nothing to do and they want to solve it out by starting a very bad habit which is smoking. On other hand, the family is number one to take care of teenagers because if they smoke in the house that is a strong reason to generate teenagers to smoke likes them. According to Kim (2010), tells that last March 2010, there was a video that really disturbed the world. It showed a two-year-old Indonesian toddler smoking cigarettes. In the news, it says that the boy’s father gave him his first cigarette when he was 18 months old and now he smokes 40 cigarettes a day. If he doesn’t get his cigarettes, she says he gets angry and screams and hits his head against the wall (Warning!!! Smoking Deaths Increase, Para. 3).     First of all, smoking affects a smoker physically and mentally. Nicotine in cigarettes or cigars is a highly addictive substance. The tar and carbon monoxide in cigarettes increase a smoker’s risk of heart diseases, brain tumors and lung cancers. According to North East Valley Division General Practice, a risk of a stroke is 25 percent likely to occur in male smokers. The nicotine increases cholesterol levels in smokers’ bodies. Men who smoke are also ten times more likely to die from lung cancer than non-smokers. Smoking is harmful to the respiratory and circulatory systems. It causes high blood pressure, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and diabetes. A person’s appearance is changed when smoking. A smoker’s skin, nails and teeth are stained and his breath is stink like smoke. For female smokers, their cervix, and uterus are vulnerable to cancer. They might also develop fertility difficulties. For pregnant female smokers, it incurs premature birth, miscarriage and sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS).     According to The World Health Organization official website, in 2013 about 2 billion people around the world, including children are active smokers. This condition is certainly related to some factors, such as, lifestyle, social environment, technology, and especially production and sale of cigarette. Furthermore, focusing on production and sale of cigarette, if we take an example from Indonesia, this factor is officially the main cause of the increase towards active smokers. Let’s have a look it in detail. Based on The Tax and Expense Director, in 2013, there are 2.300 cigarette factories that they are consisted of big and small scale class production, and there are about 40 million people who are smoking. However, in 2014, this amount whether cigarette factory or the smoker increases almost 2-fold from previous year (3.800 cigarette manufactures and 52 million smokers). These data indicate that cigarette production and sale affects the increase of the smoker. Besides that, from these data we can also predict that there is a long-term bad effect for education, health, and environment side.
