Snapchat Writing Style
I don’t regularly read print, electronic publication, or websites. I spend extra time when not doing homework, sports, or clubs, with my family, friends, and reading novels.
I typically get my news from word of mouth at school as well as the radio in the morning - news and music station. I also get most of my information from Snapchat stories. I watch “Brother,” “Nifty,” “The New York Times,” and “The Washington Post” semi-regularly. Also, when a major national or international event occurs, Snapchat typically has various stories giving information and footage of the event both from news channels as well as videos that ordinary people in or nearby the scene post.

Reading has gone from print to becoming digital in today’s world and affects not only the way we read but also the way we communicate with one another, since we are conscience about technology altering the way we read. Remember what a book looks like? Let me show you that by leaving our prints behind, the way we read today has scaled to a digital level, leaving standard books and letters obsolete. Even though you can’t furnish a room with just a single device, like you are able with books, or you can’t necessarily fling your e-reader across the room because you risk breaking it. Despite Jabr (April, 2013) stating "Before 1992 most studies concluded that people read slower, less accurately and…

Reading is my life. It’s my escape from the world around me. I love getting lost in a story about monsters and myths, or a Cinderella gone wrong. If I didn’t draw as much as I did, I’d probably be the anti-social bookworm in the back, like in all those cliche teenage love stories. It’s actually quite surprising to see how many people dislike books, there’s nothing wrong with a little reading every once and awhile. But who am I to judge? I wasn’t a very big reader myself until maybe two years ago. Of course, that leads to the first reason why I enjoy reading so much.…

It almost seems that they go online to avoid reading in the traditional sense”. Millions, even billions, of articles are only a click of a mouse and a few key strokes away from us. I used to love reading. In kinder and first, my nose was stuck in a Magic Tree House book. Third, fourth, and fifth grade I basically lived at Hogwarts (in my rightfully sorted house, of course, I am a proud Hufflepuff). And in middle school, I discovered THE tween series of my generation, Maximum Ride. Reading was exciting, and even though I had done it for years every time I picked up a book it felt so novel. I was your ordinary bookworm until seventh grade when the joint power of Ms. Green’s teaching and James Patterson’s writing broke my will to read.…

A way to catch up on what's new in the world whether it’s tv shows, fashion, music, celeb reality, gossip, or news. What I do not agree with is the ability to let the use of electronics overpower real quality time. I do think at some point families should be together talking and enjoying eachother’s company. Too much indulging can cause lack of intimacy between spouses or partners. You never want to get too ahead of yourself and too wrapped up that you forget to cherish life and the ones you love. Polly and Mark Wolkstein told Williams that on several occasions that they’ll be so into their own cyber-world that efforts to sit and watch a movie often fail. Dr. Koepnick also states that “If you go back 200 years, there were similar complaints about technological devices but it was books” she also added “The family room filled with different people reading books created a lot of concerns and anxiety, particularly regarding women, because all of a sudden they were on their own. Their minds were drifting into area that could no longer be controlled”. I agree with this. For me, Reading is my downtime. Sometimes i’ll start reading and completely forget about the world surrounding me. When I read I drift off into a different place. It’s an opportunity to learn new thing or escape the real world reality using imagination. I think Dr. Koepnick was trying to convey that between then and now, the issue with overindulging is…

Nicholas Carr believes that the internet is having a negative impact on the way we read and write. In this article he states, “I’m not the only one. When I mention my troubles with reading to friends and acquaintances—literary types, most of them—many say they’re having similar experiences. The more they use the Web, the more they have to fight to stay focused on long pieces of writing.” Here he describes how the internet serves as a distraction to him while reading. I can relate to this statement because I also feel a sense of distraction while reading and having the internet to my access. Just like Carr, I too find myself not being able to sit down and enjoy a book like I would eight years ago. The main for this may be because of technology. Whether it’s coming from a phone, computer, or tablet social networking also plays a big role in many lives today. With the list of social networking sites rising, you can also expect the users to increase as well.…

I will use Flipboard, Google News, and Sun sentinel. These three sources are ones I use on a regular basis to get my information or highlights about the topic. They are also the three sources that I go to when a circle of friends that I have from the prison world alert me to something going on that is if I don't just go to Google.com to look up the articles brought to my attention. So I'm very comfortable with these three news sources because I use them pretty much everyday. I will use terms: prison, inmates, riots, contraband. All three applications have push notifications and those are what I will use to be alerted when something is happening under the prison topic. I will then save the articles through clipboard hearts or copy the article links into an email to myself if I find them important…
