The fireteam followed without hesitation which showed that SNC was clearly in charge throughout the execution.
The fireteam followed without hesitation which showed that SNC was clearly in charge throughout the execution.
SNC began the brief with Situation containing elements from Orientation and Execution added in. During the execution SNC gave specific individuals tasks based upon their capabilities as well as covering how each of the tasks would build upon one another ultimately leading to mission accomplishment. SNC is able to speak in a manner with authority while maintaining confidence and remaining calm. SNC recognized right away that he had chosen the incorrect plank to begin the execution and made the change immediately. When one of the FT members was timed out for 60 seconds, SNC did not hesitate to continue on without his assistance. SNC placed himself directly into the friction making decisions and executing right along with his FT members. After…
SNCs’ five paragraph order contained pertinent information, but was heavily punctuated with the use of filler words such as “uh” which hindered the flow of the order and made it difficult to understand. SNC’s Situation paragraph was briefed out of sequence. During movement to the objective SNC moved throughout the squad to ensure proper dispersion and physically moved subordinates who did not immediately correct dispersion. Upon receiving enemy contact, SNC issued clear orders and ADDRAC. SNC lost mission focus, to resupply a desperate squad, and instead allocated his entire squad to assault a lone enemy’s fighting position. During the assault, SNC lead from the front, directing his fire team leaders to alter direction of attack and maintain…
SNC’s five paragraph order adequately addressed all topics with the exception of orientation, which contained the eight digit grid of the squad’s current location and failed to address additional information. SNC’s order was punctuated with awkward pauses which made the order difficult to follow and understand. During movement to objective, SNC’s squad lacked proper dispersion as the ammunition-bearing fire team fell back. SNC halted to wait for the fire team to catch up but continued at a pace which allowed the ammunition-bearing fire team to continue to fall behind. SNC displayed difficulty making decision during points of friction which included enemy contact and addressing a casualty. SNC lost mission focus and abandoned the ammunition…
SNC briefed the order in a clear and confident manner. SNC displayed a basic understanding of a five-paragraph order. SNC’s initial plan included specific tasks and directions for each member of the fire team which effectively employed each member of the team. SNC displayed adaptability during friction points and rarely hesitated. At one friction point, Candidate Jobe, Joshua D, began to assert himself and lead the fire team, ordering the next candidate to proceed over the obstacle; which was a singular, unrepeated occurrence. SNC re-established SNC’s role as the team leader without issue and maintained momentum. SNC maintained a tactical mindset throughout the duration of the problem and continually employed security. SNC did not lose…
Candidate Skarzynski demonstrated an understanding of the five paragraph order by displaying confidence while briefing his order. SNC covered all the paragraphs with clear and concise instructions. He gave a detailed scheme of maneuver and tasking statement to his fire team. SNC failed to maintain tactical awareness by not post security at the beginning of the mission. As the team began their mission SNC realized his initial plan was not going to work. With the ability to remain calm during friction points it allowed SNC to clearly communicate his new plan to his team. Once the team began the new plan SNC reminded the team to keep their focus and move with a sense of urgency and time was of the essence. SNC was able to maintain his composure…
SNC briefed loudly and clearly, displaying confidence and command presence in front of his fire team. It was clear that SNC had come prepared to deliver a quality brief. He emphasized the timeliness of movement in his brief and ensured that his fire team understood what they were doing before they began execution. During execution, SNC was able to effectively control his fire team through constant and firm communication with his team. He was able to quickly and decisively adjust his plan upon spotting the enemy and effectively transitioned his team to buddy rushes upon contact. SNC maintained adequate control of his fire team during their buddy rushes and quickly transitioned his team to a hasty 180 and consolidated 360. Upon consolidation,…
At the juvenile age of 15 on April 19, 1775, Adam Cooper signed the muster book and joined the Lexington militia. Throughout the next twenty-four hour period, we watched as Adam had his first encounters with the joy that is love and the heartbreak and pain of death. We observed closely as Adam surrendered his childhood and blossomed into a strong, young man. April Morning by Howard Fast told us about how Adam conquered some of his life's toughest challenges and so much more. Please join me as I tell proceed to tell you Adam’s story.…
SNC performed exemplary individual actions, and motivated any squad members around him to do the same. When the squad stopped, SNC would post security and tell the other’s around him to do the same. During movements, SNC constantly swept his sectors and never had to be told to pay attention. Although SNC began to lose his edge towards the last few problems by performing incorrect security posture like nodding off or sitting down instead of kneeling, SNC required little micromanagement and allowed the team leaders and squad leaders to focus on completing the problem.…
SNC gave a detailed 5 paragraph order that outlined additional details to each paragraph that was beyond the given information. The information provided was relevant and showed an elevated understanding of the requirements and preparation for future points of friction. SNC delivered this order with little confidence as he took long pauses during transitions, had a weak voice, and displayed little or no eye contact. SNC addressed security as a plan of action for the consolidated 360 but maintained little or no situational awareness during execution. SNC displayed no sense of urgency as he only seemed to be going through the motions of the movement and maintained little or no contact with his fire team. When communicating SNC looked hesitant…
SNC’s briefed all pertinent information required in the five paragraph order. SNC’s Mission paragraph included an end state and actions on the objective. SNC’s Scheme of Maneuver followed the full course of the Mission. It was evident SNC had a well thought out, detailed plan and fully considered future requirements. During the Command and Signal paragraph, SNC stated the team would communicate in a “tactical whisper,” a decision which had detrimental effects on the team’s ability to communicate later on in the problem. Communication suffered due to the use of the “tactical whisper” and at one point, two subordinates stood idle as SNC attempted to tie knots in a rope. When the initial plan failed, SNC sought creative solutions to the…
Despite the conflicting public opinion, Chris McCandless succeeded in his goal to survive in the wilderness and taught the world valuable lessons in the process. Chris McCandless “probably died on August 18th, 112 days after he had walked into the wild.” (119, Krakauer) He survived with very little gear and food, even though he was essentially cut off from the world. To have lived for a little over three months totally self-sufficient is impressive. Chris’s goal was to be independent and live off the land for a while. In his mindset, he achieved in his goal. Wayne Westerberg had employed Chris for two short amounts of time, but said “He was the type of person who insisted on living out his beliefs.” (Krakauer, 67) This was why Chris was determined to go to Alaska, instead of listening to the protests of others.…
I realize that it is opposite of the manner in which this school had begun, but it seems as though we have little choice. We already have a faculty unit that is looking to form a union due to the budget crisis, we should probably consider coming back to them with a better long-term plan in place.…
Imagine you're a 15 year old boy. You have been out all day, with your friends, or something that would make a great dinner time story for your family. You then come home to find you mother, father tied to chairs, and murdered. Afterwards you walk into another room to see your little sister and little brother, brutally murdered. Sounds like everyone's worst nightmare, but in this case it is one boys reality. Charlie Otero was in 10th grade when he discovered his family in his own home had been strangled to death. It was January 5th 1974 when we lost Julia Otero(the mother), Joseph(the father), Joseph Jr.(brother), and Josephine(sister). The killer said “i derive sexual pleasure from killing.” The police also stated that they found seman at the…
SNC briefed the five paragraph order well with a calm demeanor and conversational tone. The plan was coherent and SNC was able to answer questions from his fire team. SNC's initial plan and task allowed the team to engage the obstacle in a short period of time. At the initial point of friction SNC allowed his team to continually attempt the initial plan not recognizing the continued failed attempts and a need to adjust the plan. There was little sense of urgency to complete the mission as SNC appeared to get lost in the scenario and solely focused on making the failing technique work. SNC did assume the role as the team leader and his team members turned to him for guidance during the…
After reading 'The Crucible ', many questions popped into my mind. One of the most thought provoking question is "What was the life like in Salem of 1692 as represented in 'The Crucible '?" I have researched many sources and will present my answer in the following paragraphs.…
