Soccer Fans seen as Psycho People People portray soccer fanatics as abnormal and crazy beings due to their behavior during soccer games. In reality, they are just passionate people expressing their admiration for their favorite teams. Soccer is an international sport that attracts fans due to the competition it accommodates. With so much competition, it is bound that fans go crazy for their individual favorable team. But what is a soccer fanatic? According to the Webster’s Dictionary, a soccer fanatic is defined as “a person filled with excessive and single-minded zeal for soccer.” When fans have excessive zeal, they start to grow a bad reputation which leads them to get into problems like fighting. On the other hand, many fans do not fight but they do drink certain beverages that cause them to lose their judgment during soccer games. When fans praise a team, they form a bond to other fans that praise the same team. This happens because both fans understand and enjoy chatting about the same team. Soccer fans have been getting a bad reputation due to the type of sports as well as the teams they choose which cause them to be judged.
Soccer fanatics are people that cheer for teams they look up to. One does not have to praise the team where one lives; one can pick a team from another state, country, or even continent. The praising goes too far because, “We're living in a World where soccer is an international frenzy and to many, even a religion. The fact that a church was formed in the name of Diego Armando Maradona, the Argentinean legendary striker, proves me right.” (history-web). It is interesting how fans can see soccer so high up, but in my point of view it is understandable. Being a current soccer fan makes me understand why people judge us.
