There are many core dimensions and complexities relevant to understanding health and illness. In particular, human behaviour towards unhealthy and heathy shifts that complement to the social psychology of everyday life. Health psychology, social determinants, and social stratification produce some great insights into the processes of health and illness. These ideas ensure access to material and social psychological solutions that maybe a means in supporting people to live healthy productive lives.
Health psychology is the study of psychological and behavioural processes in health, illness, and healthcare. It gives alternative approaches (both individualistic and collective) to understanding social psychology. These approaches can involve social policy, rehabilitation (individualistic) and community programmes (collective). They are preventable risk factors found in one's living and working conditions rather than individual health risk factors. Social arrangements can affect people physically and psychologically which then manifests itself in poor health. Throughout my teenage years, I lived in Mangere, Auckland, which is a low docile and poor community. Living in a poor community can affect an individual’s progress in doing well in life. The low docile and poor communities are limited through means of predisposition by an aristocracy society. For example, poor communities have more liquor stores and unhealthy food franchises than any other community throughout New Zealand (statically 7 to 1).
