CRIME
Crime is generally an illegal act of violence an action or omission that constitutes an offense that may be prosecuted by the state and is punishable by law. The crime has very close relations to the Criminal law. Crime has been around for thousands of years, as where there is good there will also be evil. Some people voluntarily participate in criminal activities whereas, on the other hand some people unknowingly or forcefully get involved in these activities. In a social disorganisation, the neighbours are unable to provide proper education, hospitality, and suitable atmosphere for their peers. This term has largely affected the society by many means. Residents living nearby start to put themselves aside from the other people residing in the society. The neighbours constantly shift their houses away from each other so that they can live away from the shadow of society. This affects their own personal relationships with the neighbours. This has also led to the weakening of communications between the neighbourhoods. Residents do not take interest in the residential matters or problems which ultimately leads to a total disorganized and weak community which then also has lead to weakening of families, schools, and social service agencies. The two members of the Chicago school popularly known as Shaw and McKay contributed much to the term and process of disorganization. The social disorganization theory was mainly based on six reasons which pillar it. The first one is poverty, social disorganization, breakdown of social control, criminal areas, cultural transmission, criminal areas. The pig farm which he owned was inherited by him, his brother, and a sister after his parent’s death. His farm was located at Port Coquitlam, British Columbia. He and his siblings sold most of the property for urban development reducing the farm to 6.5 hectares. He earned much money from this process but he also made small-scale livestock from his farm. Cheap hotels, warehouses, and drug dens ran Vancouver’s downtown east side. The society around the place wasn’t very great as it consisted of biker gang members, drug dealers and pimps and prostitutes. This wasn’t good as most of the women were sex workers who were addicted to drugs and other stuff. The fact which is interesting was that eighty percent of them migrated from outside the place. Most of these women had no contact with their families or friends. the pickton brothers had established the piggy’s palace good times society. This was formed so that funds can be raised based on charity through dances and parties. Neighbours near the place complained about the loud noises, rowdiness, drug use, drunkenness (BUTTS, 2016). This party was also attended by at least 1700 people including prostitutes and biker gangs. The point is that these parties were not charity events but were more likely bachelor parties overall.
