The health and health care of these migrant workers can be a huge problem. As mentioned before, working all hours of the day in fields can seriously put a huge amount of stress on the body in many ways. Bending over all day can end one with serious back problems, which could land them in a terrible situation. Not only that, but carrying large, heavy buckets of crops all day cannot be good for the back either. Its quite the sad situation. None of them have health care, so getting the medical help they need can be very difficult. A young girl named Perla, being only 14 years old, lost her brother due to gang violence. She said that the day of the tragic incident, he actually walked himself into the hospital, but did not make it out. This is because the family does not have health care, and surely did not have the amount of money needed for the medical attention that was required for the young man. Also, Perla's mother got very sick and had to be operated on. This put the family in a terrible situation as well. The family was already put in a bad situation when they had to be out of work because no one seemed to be hiring migrant workers at the time. Seeing these families hearts, dreams, and hopes for the future being ripped apart because they simply cannot find the work they need to pay for appropriate health attention is devastating.
