Social Media Ruin Relationships
Looking on your phone before bed gets you more tired right? Social media networks are harmful for the modern society. My three points are Facebook ruins relationships, most children under two have a shadow account on social media, and people who have social media will do anything for internet or social media. Facebook can ruin relationships because you always see other people on Facebook. When the little kids are young, their parents show them all over the place. People will do anything for social media because they will buy anything on the media's.

First of all, social media can ruin your relationships. According to, Erik Qualman's book called "Socialnomics" states that, "one in five divorces are blamed on Facebook." That means they could be physically looking for someone, or just over reading but 1 in every five! That means if there are twenty in a room, four of them would be divorced. There could be more, but there could be less. "One in five people met online."(Erik Qualman) There are twenty people in a room four of them met online, which could possibly mean their relationship is ruined because of being online. So, it could be on actual dating sites or it could be on social media. "Two in five gay people met online." (Erik Qualman) Ten people in a room and four of them met online. The other six met somewhere

Babies don't need a social media, they are not famous. They are too young. They don't even talk yet. "4% of parents think kids check Facebook ten times a day." (CBS news Kelly Wallace) 96% actually know how much their kids check Facebook. People should tell their parents, parents are not scary, it is not like they will do anything anyways. Parents just want to know. Then, they will understand. "22% actually check Facebook." (Kelly Wallace) 78% don't check Facebook, most people don't use social media, or don't use Facebook at least. Ted Sawchuck is the author of the essay on online dating. At the University of Maryland, the dating process starts like this: get someone's name. Then look him or her up on Facebook. Use that information to decide how to continue from there. After using Facebook to check out someone and have a decent idea of whether she is a friend or possible romantic interest. The dating process works well online initially. Real connections are only formed by spending quality time together. Time spent online communicating with someone can build connections that lead to a relationship or strengthen a current one. Combine that freedom with the very personal qualities of online relationships and the large amount of time most people spend online and you have…

I think that social media isn’t all bad because it does help us stay connected with loved ones that live far or we don’t always get to see. Social media lets us share our little moments of our life with people all over the world including love ones. For example if your whole family goes on a vacation and you take a picture or a video you can share it with your family. But we also have to check that we are not on our social media all the time.…

“Online dating or Internet dating is a dating system which allows individuals, couples and groups to make contact and communicate with each other over the Internet, usually with the objective a personal romantic or sexual relationship” (Wikipedia p.1, 2010). The days of meeting your love partner by fate are gone. Potential love or lust seekers can search throughout the globe on the internet to select from a larger herd of cattle. This is a far larger group than most individuals will ever meet in person. To illustrate, 77 percent of adults in Canada are internet users, 90 percent of 18-29 year olds use the internet and Facebook currently clocked in at more than 350 million active users (Foster, Francescucci, & West, 2010). This portrays just how popular social networking has become in society. “The U.S. online dating market is expected to increase spending to $932 million in 2011” (Wikipedia p.2, 2010). There are unlimited choices and an increased possibility of…

Now when it comes to social networks being healthy and largely harmless I do not agree. Social networking sites can have some health risk as well as harm, it can cause stress, weight problems, cyberbullying and identity theft. There has been times when my nieces come home from school they go right to the computer instead of doing homework or they say they don 't have any just so they can get on the computer to get on these different sites like facebook. They will sit in front of the computer from the time they get in the house until its time to go to bed, and when my sister calls there names they don 't answer its like everything around them stops but the…

I do agree with what Ashton Kutcher and Christine Rosen are saying. Our technology is starting to pull us too close together. Today’s Facebook members are off the charts especially with younger people. Romance has changed from back in the day and has become a new completely different version. It is not all that bad if used the right way between people. Can we still live in a face to face world? Or will everything become digital?…

Another reason that social networking is bad is because the Internet is like a giant black hole. Many teens and college students don't realize that when they post something on the Internet, it stays there forever, even if you try to delete it. Social networks may look like a harmless way to connect with friends but there are many cases where it comes back to haunt them. The majority of high school and beginning college students…

Are social networking sites good for our society? Social networking sites can be harmful because they can affect the lives of many for the worse by allowing cyber bullying and leading to short attention spans. Some people believe that social networking sites expose children to predators, increase vulnerability to computer viruses, lower worker productivity, and promote narcissism and short attention spans. Others believe that these online communities promote increased communication with friends and family, familiarize people with valuable computer skills, and allow contact with people from around the world.…

Social media could probably be destroying the lives of girls and possibly of boys too. To better explain myself sexting is when a person sexually send you explicit messages, photographs, or Images (pearson 802). Teens who are being engaged in sexting are threatened or charged with felony child pornography. Another consequence is getting suspended from school for perpetrators and emotional distress with accompanying mental health conditions for victims. In many circumstances sexting incidents are shared with many groups of friends.…

Social networking sites allow you to connect with old friends from high school, family that lives far away, in my case, even in another country as missionaries, friends down the street, coworkers, and just about anyone else you can think of. This can make you feel more connected to the world around you. You can keep up with what everyone is doing and accomplishing in their lives very easily through statuses and pictures posted every day. I have met new family members, whether by marriage or by birth, through Facebook who I otherwise have not had the opportunity to meet. One of my uncles, who recently passed away, had an affair about thirty years ago and did not realize he had a son from that affair until his son decided to find his father. Facebook is the only way I have been able to meet my new found cousin and his family. But when you start looking at the downside of social networking, it can make you wonder if it is really worth the cost. There have been many debates on the issues of using these sites for many years, so there have been quite a few downsides brought to the public’s attention such as health issues like anxiety or depression, lower grades for students of all levels, decreased productivity in the workplace, someone being stalked and so forth. Since there are way too many to cover in this paper, I am going to concentrate on three that I feel are some of the most important issues. Some of the issues with social networking sites are identity theft made easier, cyber bullying, which has caused many suicides, and strong face-to-face relationships suffering and being replaced by weaker online relationships.…

One of the Pioneers of online dating is Match.com, which was founded in 1995. Though for the first few years of online dating was considered taboo, “by 2005, 37 percent of single, American Internet users had used online dating sites, according to the Pew Research Center. And of the U.S. couples who formed relationships between 2007 and 2009, 22 percent of them met online, one academic study found.” So where did this spike in online dating come from? Well one single man using a popular online dating network said “Where else can you go in a matter of 20 minutes, look at 200 women who are single and want to go on dates?” Many people lack the sexual confidence to approach a prospective mate in person, and the possible companion is often too bashful in a public setting when approached by the person. But when behind a computer screen and with plenty of possible partners to choose from, much of the pressure is uplifted.…

Facebook, MySpace, twitter, and many other social network websites aren’t private anymore. Anyone knows about you, what you like and don’t, your relationship status, and what you are looking for. “With social networking sites, with Facebook, if you click that you're in a relationship, it [notifies] everyone that you're in a relationship. Its public broadcasting, this isn’t part of a good relationship” (Fox, Stuart). Dating isn’t about love at first site, or waiting by her house. It is not about emotions anymore, it’s only about what a girl or a guy wants. They want something new, something to talk about or feel proud. “Social networking has created…
