The reintegration of criminals and offenders into the society and their interventions are meant to bring down the rates of crime and recidivism. Control and care can be achieved in reintegration through psychological and social support. This method achieves control and care in its execution facilitating a smooth return into the community. It achieves control in which a qualified practitioner, community worker or probation officer is the one in charge and steers the process, guiding the prisoner in achieving minimum social functioning. Further to that, it exhibits care by being sentimental and therapeutic therefore offering the offender a chance to connect emotionally with the facilitator therefore feel cared.

The balance between control and care can be formalized in a policy and thereafter be adopted and part of practice and procedure in the social reintegration of the not only the offenders but also other types of social deviants such as medically ill, drug users, mentally ill and other socially challenged individuals.
