individuals? Which is better for people as a whole, or as a country? Many countries have had different results.
Some countries have had socialism and failed miserably. Yugoslavia or a more recent example, Venezuela have
shown that socialism does not work for the most part. Countries such as China, or ourselves have shown
that capitalism or a “free market” system works...right? Truth is, it is highly debatable. After all, most Americans
can not even afford health care. Having lived in Panama for some years, I noticed an increase of the amount of
Venezuelans coming into the country. With a population of approx. 3.5 million people it …show more content…
It being a free market society, it has grown double digits in the past 6
years. With millions of dollars pouring into tourism and the canal zone, Panama is growing and fast. But yet the
people of Panama are poor. This is because of the regulations that Panama lack to enforce such as minimum
wage. Where it is about $2.50 per hour. This brings up the question once more on, which system works best. But
exactly what is socialism? Socialism is the belief that a social organization or in this instance a country should
have control and regulations over private investors to prevent things such as unfair pay for example or
environmental pollution. A great example of this would be a millionaire who comes to a country to invest. He

with millions from sales. Socialism prevents this. If socialism is all for the better of the whole than does that
mean that capitalism is a wild west where everyone fend for themselves? Negative. Capitalism is basically a …show more content…
My point is in third world
countries socialism is hard to maintain because of the limited resources and especially if the government running
everything is corrupt. That does not mean that the US is not corrupt, they just have more resources to lean on.
Money coming into the country one way or another even if it means to start wars. United States actually make
more money when the country is at war. Of course we dont see this because of the simple fact that its coming
straight from our pockets. Sure we do need protection against “terrorism” but 589 billion dollars worth of it?
What makes us any different from North Korea lying to their people telling them that they have to pay up
because were at war? In a sense having the biggest military is a good thing but, not if your country can not
sustain a normal life. Capitalism on the other hand gives the country and consumers and option. The option to
choose whether or not they need health insurance and if so being able to choose the one most suitable
