Society And Religion: Chapter Analysis
a. For the chapter of the day, which topic interested you most in the chapter?
The topic that interested me the most from this chapter was the one regarding one of the connections between society and religion. Aside from the ones that are briefly talked about in Tischler’s textbook, I will also mention a few others. Religion is often sought out for comfort or guidance during hard times. Whenever there are serious problems, individuals turn to religion so they can pray for good fortune or answers. If one is feeling stressed or worried, they can relieve some of that stress by knowing that all will be alright if they put their faith and trust in the one(s) they worship. Religion could also be used to live a life that has its own set of norms

    However, even one person who makes the right choice and puts God first could affect their entire community. Rearrange your perspectives, and dedicate your life to God, and people will notice. As John Wesley stated, “I set myself on fire and people come to watch me burn.” Do not let the frivolities of life distract you, and keep you from loving the Lord “with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind,” and loving “your neighbor as yourself,” as we are commanded in Luke 10:27. I challenge you to regard this one verse as the supreme reason for your existence, and realize that nothing else you could ever do matters more.
