Noelle’s stomach dropped as she realized what had to be done. Dread and guilt, that filled her heart as she prepare to give everything up. As the familiar pain filled her heart. The pain that could only be associated with the lost of offspring. Noelle had no other options and that broke her down. Only receiving comfort from the chilled ground as it seemed to cradled her like a new life. Something Noelle would yet again not be apart of. Noelle knew it was her only choice, but that did not stop resentment from creeping in. Resentment burned for the cruelty of the world and the situation that came from it. Noelle understood marriage would be a challenge. Nowhere, however, did it say that she would have to deal with the loss of two chicks. The pain was like a knife continually stabbing into your heart, over and over and over again. Never stopping, just hurt all the time. The pain never lessons, one just gets stronger. All the progress Noelle made feels lost, similar to getting a go back to start card in a board game. Only this was not a game, it was her life.
Noelle left her igloo, cradling the one thing that mattered to her. She entered the dingy shop on the edge of town, the only place that takes unborn chicks as payment. Noelle was skeptical because of her husband odd behavior. As she continued to pester him, Dan finally admitted that he had sold it for money. Noelle was shocked seeing as she had done the same thing. It was early, but since dinner had been ruined the couple went and sat around there old wooden table that only had three legs it creaked every time it was hit or touched. They exchanged gifts and when Noelle opened hers, a wave of confusion hit her for the garment was to small to fit anyone. As realization dawned on her that it was for their chick, Noelle let out a sob and then another until she was sobbing her eyes out.
