There are three differing theories of aging. They are the disengagement theory, the activity theory and the continuity theory. The disengagement theory states that as people grow older, they realize death is near so they disengage from their social roles in society. Society, in return, sees the what is fixing to happen and gets ready to function without them. Men and women do this differently. Men tend to have a larger impact through their careers and women have it with societies. These societies tend to be socio-emotional in nature. This one states that aging adults usually tend to keep doing the stuff they have always done and acted the way they did when they were younger will be able to continue to have structures in place.
