Crime- crime and criminal justice is designed to benefit the upper, powerful classes, while overthrowing the lower classes.
Example: "Thus, street crimes, even minor monetary ones are routinely punished quite severely, while large scale financial and business crimes are treated much more leniently.
Theft of a television might receive a longer sentence than stealing millions through illegal business practices
Unemployment- lower classes is usually the one who experience this because of poor education, on the other side employment is in the hands of those with the greatest political, economic, and social resources which is the upper class.
Poverty- Upper and Lower classes competing in limited resources, which the upper class holds the power to gain these resources, so poverty occurs in lower classes
Prostitution- The society in lower classes don't know where to find a source of living because of non-existence of education, job etc. thus they engage in prostitution that trigger upper classes to take advantage of lower class society
Structural functionalism-
Crime- Functionalists believe that crime is a good thing because Rules are necessary for a society to function. Without the example of those who disobey the rules, rules would not be able to be made.
Therefore, a society couldn't properly function.
Unemployment-
Poverty-Poverty function is to create jobs for people who provide services for the poor if all people were rich then no one would engage in low paying jobs.
The structural-functionalist view of poverty is that it has positive functions for society; poverty employs a lot of people (social workers, non-profit organizations etc.).
Prostitution-
Functionalists believe everything happens for a reason. Prostitution would be considered functional because prostitutes make money, and patrons are able to have sex so they will be less likely to rape someone. Prostitution can provide the financial resources necessary for paying
