Soft Boiled Egg
Everyone has probably heard of a hard-boiled egg, but what is a soft-boiled egg? A soft-boiled egg is an egg that has been boiled for a short amount of time, usually about 6 minutes. A soft-boiled egg is an egg whose whites are mostly cooked and yolk is partially cooked and still runny (WiseGeek). Soft-boiled eggs are mostly commonly eaten for breakfast. For example, you dip toast in the runny yolk. My experiment is to test how time affects the consistency of the best soft-boiled egg.
History
Most people have heard the riddle: the chicken or the egg? Which came first? "The first recorded egg layers were ducks and geese in China more than 6,000 years ago (Get Cracking)." The hen did not appear until two thousand years later in India. "Egyptian and Chinese records showed that fowl were laying eggs for man in 1400 B.C. (Georgia Egg Commission)" Legend has it that the egg came first, but nobody knows for sure because birds and eggs have been around for longer than mankind.
Egg Yolk
"An egg yolk is the central part of a bird egg, which is designed to provide nutrients to a developing chick before it hatches (WiseGeek)." The egg yolk is the center, yellow part of an egg. While doing this experiment, I will be mostly watching the egg yolk because that is what will determine the best soft-boiled egg. In a soft-boiled egg, the egg yolk will be a thick liquid.
Viscous (Viscosity)
Viscous is having the property of viscosity (Dictionary-viscous). Viscous is a thick and sticky substance that is between liquid and solid. In egg, when an egg is soft-boiled, the yolk is a thick liquid. The yolk has the property of viscosity. In the question, consistency also means viscosity.
Egg White
There are four parts in an egg white. The innermost layer of the thick white is called a chalaza. The chalazas are attached to the thick albumen. Chalazas help anchor the yolk and also protects it from being damaged (World Book-Egg). In a soft-boiled egg, the egg white is mostly cooked. When

    Sperm cells, also known as spermatozoon are reproductive cells. The main function is to fertilize the ovum. At the head of the sperm is a large nucleus surrounded by acrosome, the acrosome covers the head of the sperm, when the ovum is reached the acrosome releases hydrolytic enzymes to break through the egg wall.
