slavery in 1826 with her daughter who was still an infant. She lived a life after escaping from slavery attending and giving speeches at many different convention’s like The Ohio Woman's rights Convention in Akron, and the National Woman's Rights Convention in Worcester, Massachusetts. She has had many famous quotes like “Ain’t I a woman.” and “I’m not going to die, I’m going home like a shooting star.”
When she was born her name was Isabella Baumfree, but later in life she said that the spirit called her so she changed her name from Isabella Baumfree to Sojourner Truth. Truth her voices in her head so she became accustomed to god. Sojourner Truth was well known for being the first african american woman to win a court case against a white man. She won the court case and got her son back from down south because he was illegally sold. She later moved back to New York in 1829 with her oldest children. Those are some of the things Sojourner Truth did in her lifetime. She helped woman and blacks to becoming a face of hope for both communities. Sojourner Truth was a great person who will always be remembered in the black community as a hero.
