Song Analysis: Bombs Away By Kid Cudi
The song I’ve been playing over and over recently is Hello by Adele. Adele is one of my favorite female artists. Her vocals are insane. What I like most about her songs is how relatable they can be. For instance, Hello seems to be about Adele trying to reach out to a past lover who seems to not want to speak to her. When I listen to this I think about my former best friend. If I ever reached out to her she wouldn’t want to speak to me. The beat is subtle and you can hardly hear it past Adele’s high vocal range.
Today I needed to clean my room and I cannot do that without music. The perfect cleaning music is Rap. Bombs Away by B.o.B makes me hyper and motivates me to clean. One thing I love about this song is the fact Morgan Freeman is featured.

What intrigues me the most is her voice. It almost sounds like she has an accent. I can relate to this song so well. The first part of the song is about only going to a party to be with friends. She talks about sitting in the corner because she’d rather be at home. I am exactly the same way. I like listening to this song mostly because its catchy but I could not tell you why it is.
The beat in Alive by KiD CuDi sounds like people stomping their feet and clapping their hands accompanied by techno sounds. I have to say, before taking this class I never gave much thought about the beat. This is a special case because I actually gave more attention to the beat than the lyrics. It’s a pretty moderate tempo that’s constant throughout and I really enjoy it.
Paradise by Coldplay is a cool song. The instruments used seems to a guitar, bass, drums, piano, and some string instrument. This song just makes me think about my paradise which is being on a beach listening to waves crash. To my surprise this song is super repetitive which I’m not a fan of. Despite the repetitiveness, it makes me happy.
Never Say Never by The Fray puts me in a depressed mood. I think the slow tempo and the sorrow filled lyrics makes me sad. The lyrics tell a story of a couple who keep breaking up and getting back together. I can’t really relate to this but it does make me think about how if love is meant to be it

While sappy and slow hits are the usual characteristics of a Carrie Underwood song, she changes her style with a more optimistic tune. It opens with an upbeat rhythm on the keyboard. Then, a bluesy beat is introduced with the sounds of a guitar, violin, and drum set. The tune fades lower to stress the importance of the lyrics when she begins to sing. She uses variations of medium and low pitches to show off her perfect country vocals. She begins with a low and sassy voice, but shifts to a more medium tone at times. While she starts the chorus, the music gets louder and an arrogant attitude is heard through her voice. The music is also very joyful because she resolves the situation in her own terms. This angry, yet cheerful, melody is very different from what Underwood's fans are used to hearing.…

The song reaches it’s climax when the boy finds a gun in his home and considers suicide. He later decides to call for help and near the end of the song, we see the young boy as a grown man marrying his crush from high school and they start a family together. The song is a message of hope and is almost a conversation between the boy and the…

. This song is about someone having to live up to the expectations someone else wants for them. They are pressured into having to be exactly like that person. They are nonstop always being smothered, and absolutely hate the fact that they cannot be who they want to be. They eventually get tired of listening to him/her and start living to their own expectations.…

From the beginning, it is obvious that a major depressive disorder is present. The lyrics, “Oh noose, tied myself in,” indicate apparent thoughts of suicide, which are consistent in cases of people with depression. The feeling of depression is described as “combining the anguish of grief with the sluggishness of bad jet lag.” It is understandable that one would feel thoughts of suicide after feeling this constant suffering.…

The melody is quite simple as most rock songs are, using the popular one note melody formula. This is an effective way to write melodies as it makes the song more memorable especially on the first listen. However, in the chorus it is slightly more complicated with a bit more variety in the range of notes.…

The song I chose for this discussion is Dope by BTS. I think the main reason I like the song so much is because it is heavily synthesized, and it gives off an electronic vibe. Overall, the song's tempo is fast, but it does slow down a bit at the bridge. I actually really enjoy the melodic bridge because it lets the song "chill out" for just a little bit before going back into an extremely upbeat tempo. Additionally, I like the fact that there is a wide variety of voice ranges in the song.…

The music merely adds to the pace of the moment, and helps me to relate to the craziness of the scene. A prime example is starting at 23:40, where everyone is arriving to the party. The first sound we hear is the trumpet playing a short tune in the background of the dialogue. This would probably be the music that would actually be playing at the party. Then we start to hear the beat of the song as the car races down the driveway.…

The song called “I'm Walkin”, is a very good song that i can connect with. This songs lyrics are honestly kind of sad but the melody of the song is such a jumpy vibe it's hard not be happy during the song. The song is about a man whos girl just left him and now he's all alone by himself. Obviously it's not a super positive song if one looks into the lyrics, but the rhythm and melody of the song turns it into a well rocking blues. The title of the song is secondary to the lyrics in the song and i find that very interesting.…

When I have been in relationships in the past, I have been the one to push people away either because it didn't feel right or I just thought it was not working out. I have done so much of that in the past, so when the topic ever runs my mind I get scared. Sometimes I feel like I can't live without certain people, one being Sergio, but I'm always the one to push people away without even trying. So this song, reminds me of how I shouldn't and how I would blame myself if the break up ever happened. I would be the one to try and patch things up again and ask if we can start again.…
