Song Analysis: Joseph Bear Cloud
As the morning service starts to commend the co-pastor starts with an opening prayer and every head is bowed, all eyes are closed and every hand is lifted up in the air exalting their prayers to heaven. The Sacred Harp Singing was hosted by the Little Vine Primitive Baptist Church. It was a showcase series of many Christian songs for the participants to praise the Lord. I feel that his singing was trying to present a praising ambiance, as the place of the event was held at a Baptist church. The Sacred Harp Singing was held in a small church that could fit no more than one hundred people, the pews where made of wood. I can honestly say that I enjoyed the singings. I took a chance and actually participated and found that it was very uplifting and spiritual.…

Hellllloooo gsfgggggggggggggggg"Advance Australia Fair" is the official national anthem of Australia. Created by the Scottish-born composer Peter Dodds McCormick, the song was first performed in 1878 but did not gain its status as the official anthem until 1984. Until then the song was sung in Australia as a patriotic song. In order for the song to become the anthem it had to face a vote against the Royal Anthem ("God Save the Queen"), "Waltzing Matilda" (the "unofficial anthem") and "Song of Australia". Other songs and marches have been influenced by "Advance Australia Fair", such as the Australian vice-regal salute.…

My favorite song about love is Mumford and Sons' Broad Shoulder Beasts. I like this song because it demonstrates the magic of love in a very underlying way with its melodies and in a very strong way with its lyrics. Two good examples of this in literature are "The Love Potion" adapted by Jesse Martin and "The Goodness of St. Rocque" by Alice Dunbar. While the items in these stories may be different they serve as an underlying source for the magic of love.…

Billings' music talent gave him the ability to create music that spanned across a horizon of emotions. He was able to display to his listeners the emotion of jaunty praise in the anthem “The Lord Is Risen Indeed” and the feelings of affliction and sorrow in the anthem “David’s Lamentation”. Climbing to success steadily, he did not stop here. Billings also worked to emit lighthearted amusement in the secular song "Modern Music" as well as a more serious emotion in the canon "When Jesus Wept."He accomplished much, while only having received a semblance of formal musical training in the Bostonian Singing…

The Crow Nation, called Apsaalooké by their people, is a federally recognized tribe of historically nomadic people. Apsaalooké, meaning “children of the large-beaked bird” was mistranslated by settlers to “Crow”. The Crow have a rich and interesting background that has assimilated into mainstream culture. Tipis and moccasins are an example of items generally attributed with Native Americans, but are actually specific to the Crow Nation.…

Lieder ohne Worte (Song without Words) is written by the Romantic composer Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy. It is a collection of forty-eight short lyrical piano pieces of markedly song-like character that he wrote at various periods of his life between 1809 and 1847. They are well suited to the study of musical form because of their artistic value. Op. 19b, No. 1 Andante con moto in E major was written in 1830 and is the first in the collection. The piece is in the key of E major and modulates from E to B to G major.…
