Song Of Myself Essay
Walt Whitman’s poem, Song of Myself, is a collection of several small explanations of the meaning of life. Its starts of very abstract, but makes more sense once you read on. Whitman uses several different writing styles to bring across the point that everything in the world has meaning. He tells us about the significance of being present in the moment through 3 different characters; “I” the speaker that involves himself in everyday things, “Me myself” the observer of the world, and the “soul” which represents the more deep sentimental side of the speaker.
As the poem goes on I am reminded of the song “Give Peace a Chance” by John Lennon. Whitman tells us how everything is going on in the world and people are often let it consume them. Whitman
