Sonora Personal Narrative
I walked and saw everything blurry the people everyone I couldn’t recognize anything. I panicked and next thing you know I was sitting down on a chair drinking a coke. It was a nice summer morning getting ready to leave the heat of Arizona and head on to the country where you get the best tacos Mexico; to be exact rocky point in Sonora. My family and I were so excited we had already been there but we loved the beach and we always went when the weather was perfect. There is nothing better then a little get a way with your family. I took five steps and felt getting weaker and weaker my vision was blurry it was the first time it had ever happened to me so I panicked and didn’t know what to do I called out to my mom with tears rolling down my face and reaching out and felt when someone caught me. One of the vendors had caught me and sat me down on a chair in the shade and offered me a soda. My mom calmed me down and made me drink all the soda I guess it helps you bring your sugar level up. I was sitting down for a while until I was better and immediately my mom took me to go get some delicious tacos to eat. It was our last day in Mexico and we were enjoying every minute of it we had a great time and some great food. That Sunday we went out to the beach really early to see if we can spot any crab or an squid. We would ask the man carrying them if they could show them to us. We returned to our room to pack up and checked out. We got some food to eat and headed back on the road to Arizona. Apart from the incident I had everything turned out to be the best. Now I think back at that day and make sure I eat something every morning because that was the worst feeling ever. It was a day to remember

The room was very bright and felt very tropical. Once we got unpacked, we went down to the beach and ate lunch. After lunch, we saw two of my aunts and their families. Then, we went swimming in the ocean, the pools and laid on the beach. By supper time everyone had arrived. We spent most of our days eating together, swimming, playing beach volleyball, and laying on the beach. I got to spend my birthday in Punta Cana and I got to go on a catamaran, on a banana boat tube pulled by a boat with my cousins, and we had a special dinner at the Italian restaurant on the resort for me. My family and I were also there for the Super Bowl. They had a huge inflatable screen that they projected the game on. They had huge buffet of food and workers on the resort dressed like football players. My brother and my dad are Denver Broncos fans, so they were very happy with the result of the…

The tapping on the wood door was enormous in the silence. Shocked out of my solitude, I pushed myself up from the couch and heaved open the door. Silhouetted against the light was a dark-haired woman with a girl clinging to her skirt. I knew who she was. My landlady had told me about the woman I had seen picking up mail at the post office. She'd called her "The Prize."…

At the age of two my parents made the long and devastating journey to bring me and my siblings to the United States from Mexico. They sought for a brighter and better future for us and fought tooth and nail to give us the world they didn’t have growing up. Ever since I had stepped foot on U.S soil I never had the chance to go back. The sacrifices that permitted me to be able to attend school for free and giving me a better head start than I would’ve had if we’d stayed couldn’t mask the effects of the move. I didn’t grow up being enriched by the colorful culture that Mexico has, I missed out on the opportunity to share moments with my family from abroad, and fought the struggle of trying to blend in, in an environment that was so different…

There once was a time that I went to cabo San Lucas Mexico with my family. The reason that this trip was so special too was because I got to spend a whole week with my grandparents, aunts and uncles and most importantly my parents. When we first got we went to are rooms and put are thing down then went right down to the pool. I can still remember the way the pool look and felt because I got cut on one of the tiles in the pool. One there reasons I liked the pool so much is you could just sit there and watch the sun set. Then the next day I went fishing on the beach that was so cool casting out a fishing line and sitting there waiting with family there beaches are so beautiful and nice like the ones you see in TV commercials. I haven’t even got to the best part they have a little cruise called sunset cruise. You rode on a pirate ship and watch people fight and watch the sun go down. I was a lot like the movie call peter pan. This little cruise was so special because in a hurry and I got locked out of my room I forgot to wear shoes so I was without shoes that whole night. There is one restraints that you have to go to when you are there I mean they have unreal food. They have huge tacos filled with anything you want with beans, rice and a side salad. I can taste it now. I also remember the time I went with my grandparents to the beach after the sun went down with one of my uncles. You have experienced nothing until that happened I mean the sand nice and cold between your toes swimming in the ocean you feel so free and wild. That is why cabo San Lucas Mexico is so special to me. I have a lot of good memories there with my…

It was a Saturday morning when we went to say goodbye to all our family at town. This was very hard for me. In my opinion love is the weakness of everyone and i am including myself, too. We had to travel from my town to a city called Huajuapan for about three hours. At Huajuapan we went to buy canned food to eat during the traveling from Oaxaca to Tijuana. We did not have enough money to buy plane tickets, so we bought bus tickets which were cheaper.…

Imagine being stripped away from everything you knew: your childhood friends; cousins you thought you'd always have with you, and places you called your second, third, or even fourth home. That is exactly what I went through when my family decided to move to Albuquerque, New Mexico. What's different about my experience was that it wasn't necessarily the move that flipped my world upside down but everything that happened in between. I was an awkward, shy, midget-like twelve-year-old when my family and I lost our home during the California money crisis. From that point on it was like a tumbling circus act. My parents ended up losing their jobs until finally my dad moved to New Mexico; leaving me and my family for almost a year. The last thing…

In March of 2007, I entered the United States illegally. Prior to this, I had been deported twice. Crossing the border was very dangerous, but I had to do it because in Mexico we are very poor. My father passed away 21 years ago, and my mom was left a widow with 11 children. My oldest brother moved out of the house, so I had to step up and help my mom raise my siblings. Where I’m from, there aren’t many jobs available, only on the fields and the pay wasn’t enough to support us. I didn’t want to cross the border, but I had no other choice. I ask for your forgiveness for breaking the immigration law by crossing the border and living in America illegally.…

One weekend, seven of us decided to take a trip down from college to my parents' beach cottage in Panama City [Florida]. We were three guys and four girls celebrating our last weekend before beginning our sophomore year. We unloaded the cars and prepared for bed. I did not know then, but it was the last decent night's sleep I would have. We got up the next morning, loaded the cooler with beer and headed for the beach. We laughed, drank and exchanged stories from our freshman year. After finishing an enormous meal, we continued to drink and dance until 1:00 a.m. We had to get back to school early the next day, so we decided to fill the car with gas and get more cigarettes that night. My friend and I hopped in his truck, me in the driver's seat and he in the passenger seat, and headed to an all-night convenience store. We found one store open about two miles down the road. We pulled in, gassed up and headed back to the beach house. It was a straight shot, just a few minutes down a four-lane highway.…
