APPLE CREEK -- Waynedale is about to complete a "Decade of Dominance" in wrestling, which was born out of a pair of single-digit setbacks at the little Wayne County Athletic League Tournament in 2005 and 2006.…
One man’s logic is another man’s senselessness. One man’s routine is another man’s torture. Chris McCandless is not far from this analogy. In the novel, Into the Wild by John Krakauer, the eccentric story of a man who was living the American dream abandons society and takes off on a wild adventure, traveling America with nothing more than cheap hiking boots, a small riffle, and a ten pound bag of rice. But if McCandless had such an ideal life, why would he desert it? Perhaps there was an underlining issue that ate at his soul each day he followed society’s rules and his parent’s extraordinary expectations.…
I realize that it is opposite of the manner in which this school had begun, but it seems as though we have little choice. We already have a faculty unit that is looking to form a union due to the budget crisis, we should probably consider coming back to them with a better long-term plan in place.…

There has always been a debate between creating a legal market for organs rather than accepting the fact that the black market will always exist. If there had to be a decision made regarding the legalization of organ purchases, my answer would be a definite no. Many people can argue and come up with plenty of reasons as to why it should or should not be legalized but in the end the meaning of an “Organ Donor” would be taken away.…
Some say the war of Indians did not end until after a 71 day standoff February 28th, 1973 at Wounded Knee against Indians and the American government in a protest. The Indians were fighting for their treaty rights (Wounded Knee the Longest War). The Indians wanted the world to see what it was like to be them, to live in poverty and feel racism as well as being powerless against the government. The elder women were just as involved in the standoff as men. The Indians had demands such as the United States should recognize the Oglala government and an investigation of the Oglala Tribal President Dick Wilson. They had a total of 20 demands, all of which was nothing done about. Two people died and one person was paralyzed as a result of the siege (1973).…
The Tell-Tale Heart, by Edgar Allen Poe, is a short story that was about a narrator telling their process of the murder of an old man because of his eye, but it never specifically stated what the narrator’s gender was. Maybe it was a female, since there were many clues that support this claim, such as the narrator being a housekeeper for the old man, this could explain why the murder was very clean and why she had access to his home in the first place, and because she was a female, the police officers who came to the house didn’t suspect much. First of all, the narrator could have been a female housekeeper for the old man does make sense. In the story, after the narrator killed and hid the old man’s body, officers came and since the narrator…

Christian Longo’s life spiraled out of control, scattered with crime and financial ruin that led down the path of bankruptcy (Lin et al.). Upon realizing his inadequacy to support his growing family, Longo liberated them from his embarrassing shortcomings (Lin et al.). “He strangled [his wife] and two-year old daughter…[and] stuffed his three-year old daughter…and four-year old son… into pillow cases, weighted them down with rocks, and threw them, still alive, into a nearby pond” (Lin et al.). However, despite his murderous crimes, Longo, like so many other inmates before him, pleaded with the state to allow him to donate his organs upon his death. Despite the increasing pressure for inmate organ donations throughout the country, no legislation…
It was decided in those early meetings that the best crowd to appeal to at first were the Birdie’s of the world. The ones that would attend purely out of the possibility to have a little fun. Benny used her work to print out flyers they came up with. As this was the very beginning of their operation, they had pretty much no clue what to put on them, so they all read:…
Loss and Grief is a very common topic that many people deal with at some point in their lives. Grief is one of those topics that is touchy and sometimes overlooked, but has to be dealt with in order for it to go away. One of the more difficult types of grief there is to deal with is Disenfranchised Grief. Disenfranchised Grief has to do with grief that is misunderstood or undervalued by others in society which as a result makes it harder for the grievers who are facing it to express or even address their grief in order to properly deal with it. Although Literature covers a wide variety of different types of disenfranchised grief, suicide will be the main topic of interest in this review. It is important to know about Suicide as a disenfranchised grief because it…
I personally am torn on the issue of whether people should have to ask permission to commit suicide or not, I really see both sides of the argument. One part of me really feels that people should have the right to do what they want with their bodies, without having to ask permission from others. The other half of me thinks that in a lot of cases that suicide is not the answer, and with help and treatment those people could really seriously be healed from these thoughts that suicide is the only way out of their issues and problems. There are lots of programs that offer crisis intervention which our book defines as, “Thus the program offers crisis intervention: they try to help suicidal people see their situations more accurately, make better…
There are a plethora of reasons why pop and soft-drinks are bad for personal health as well as the environment. Never the less there have been an increase of obesity cases and children with diabetes caused solely by the consumption of sugar filled beverages. The consumption of soft-drinks and other carbonated beverages have multiple negative effects, and I want to briefly cover ten or so reason as to why soda is hazardous to our bodies as well as some negative effects that drinking soda on a daily basis has on the body.…
In some cases, people have shied away from the route of organ donation because they believe that when the time comes, they can no longer have an open-casket funeral, however this argument is not fully accurate, nor does it mean one should not be an organ donor. Assured that donation will alter their appearance, those who are still on edge about donation begin to lean towards the decision not to. Surprisingly to some, at an open-casket funeral there is no visual evidence of donation, let alone any altercation at all. It is important that when considering organ donation the patient is knowledgeable of its intent and is fully aware of common misconceptions that exist. By knowing this information, not only will they find…
Euthanasia which is also known as mercy killing has been pronounced legal in many countries in the present day world. Euthanasia involves terminating the life of patients to relieve pain and suffering; which became intolerable. Euthanasia is not embraced by everyone, as some people tend to go against it on the grounds of religion and morality. As much as the euthanasia process painlessly puts a person to death, the responsibility of deciding who dies and who lives should not be left in the hands of a doctor. It is moral obligation for individuals and the society as a whole (including the doctors) to protect human life, thus euthanasia should not be legalized.…
