No, it should not be illegal for parents to spank their children because it is a way to teach discipline to the children. I strongly agree that a child sound get some type of punishment when he makes bad behavior, however I disagree on intense spanking. In my personal experience I had the two types of parents. My dad spanked me for anything bad I did, however my mom was an easier person to get around, and she only spanked my once in my whole life. From my personal experience I can say that I obeyed the person that spanked me more. I respected my dad more, and I didn’t obey my mother very much. When I didn't obey my mother she would threaten me by telling my dad to spank me.
There are some people that argue that spanking their kids is bad for their development. However in my first article, 8 reasons to spank your kids "While some studies have shown the negative effects of spanking, today’s disrespectful youth have shown what happens when necessary spanking is forgone"( madamenoire). He did not learn how to be independent because his parents decided to not spank him, and that build up a very comfortable connection, in which he did not feel the need to be successful.
