Amerind is a company that offers a range of natural and reconstituted veneers which are pressed on MDF, plywood and particle board substrates sourced from managed forests and plantations. The company started in 1971. Their goals is to provide quality laminates and laminated panels. They also do flooring, working plywoods and other timbers. The company is a multinational corporation. Amerind currently has 45% of the veneered board market and around 20% of the market for other products. A new product that Amerind are starting to produce is a stone bench top to suit kitchen markets and cabinet maker. The product weighs 60% less than conventional stone and is 70% thinner, so it is more workable and increases the availability of the product by using smaller quantities of stone thereby increasing resource. Quality control of Amerind’s products are handled by trained workers. There are specific requirements that must be met when manufacturing to ensure products are meeting the standards of the company. With their resale products they rely on the product from their suppliers and their warranties to ensure products sold are backed by Industry and Australian Standards.
