Small arms is the term used by military forces to describe a weapon which an individual solider can carry. As it is commonly said that these weapons are small or light but instead they are lethal and dangerous. There are 639 million of these weapons in circulation and 8 million more are produced every year. They are the major cause of civilian causalities now days. Small arms are an everlasting problem and because of its long life, low maintenance, high portability, relatively cheapness and easy availability these weapons are being used as illicit trafficking and are even operated by young children. These weapons are the reason for destabilizing an area.
The most alarming situation is that explosives which is a weapon of war and terror has been recognized as a small arm. This tool which has been quiet popular with terrorists groups either used for suicide bombing or some other terrorist activity. Civilians are most affected by these kind of weapons as compared to the weapons which are used in wars . These deadly weapons have greatly contributed to homicides and suicides.
Now a common sense question comes into the mind. How to stop the flow of these deadly weapons? Countries like United states, who is the largest arm exporter in the world has to ensure that where does the weapons it produces ends up. US has to be responsible in its export practices otherwise these exports will be exploited by international arms broker who will continue to pump these weapons into the restricted regions.In addition to stop the flow of these weapons, the international community must also get rid of the existing piles. The most suitable method to get rid of theses stock piles is to destroy them. The other alternative way is to transform these weapons into tools. It will not only destroy these weapons but will provide with useful tools for other purposes. Farmers will get plows, people will receive bicycle and these weapons will provide building materials to create new great tools
