Detective Holmes had come to realize that Helen Stoner was about to become the doctors next victim. With both sisters dead he would be the only heir to the income of their deceased mother. I believe that the brilliant detective decided to beat the doctor at his own game. With the help of Miss Stoner, Holmes sneaks into the manor house and waits patiently in Miss Stoner’s room for Dr. Roylott to make his move. Around 3 a.m. in the morning he hears a low whistle and something gliding through the vent. He turned the light on as the snake began to descend the bell rope. He strikes at the snake which caused it to retreat to the vent; he bangs his cane against the vent which angered the snake and caused it to strike the doctor and cause his death. The case had been solved by Sherlock Holmes, the brilliant detective. The ruthless and cunning doctor had put together a masterful scheme to kill the two sisters and claim their share of the inheritance. The doctor’s tragic flaw was his arrogant belief that his plan was infallible. He did not consider that any other person would be smart enough to foil his plan… he underestimated Sherlock
