Pericles lived in Athens, Greece when he made a very important speech about their society, how good their people were, and he spoke about the soldiers that were killed in the war. The main reason for the speech was to commemorate the soldiers who were killed in the fight. According to the document the speech was given in the winter of 431-430 B.C.E.
