Therefore, if there were a movement to establish human rights globally, inequality would be diminished. Currently, society is ridden with all sorts of inequalities. Within the United States, an example of inequality is the challenges women face in male-dominated workplaces. In sportscasting, women are often viewed as sex symbols and unknowledgeable about sports, disregarding their hard work (Grubb, et. al., 93). No matter how skillful or hard women work in sportscasting, they are discriminated against for no other reason than their gender. In fact, much of the world is patriarchal and discriminates of women. In addition, inequality can be found in class divisions, liberties, income, security, and much more. My parents immigrated to the United States from India because of the lack of liberties and income. They hoped that the United States would offer them more opportunities and success. Many people have a similar story, where they have to immigrate to another country leaving everything behind to live a life where desired equalities are found. Essentially, all humans want equality. No one wants to be disadvantaged or treated inferior in any way. Society makes it so that certain people live with inequalities. In fact, according to the popular Toronto Star newspaper explains that, “The cancer of inequality is destroying the fabric of our society and governments must act before rips apart” (Thestar.com). Inequality works against humanity and strays humans away from their rights. The obvious adversary to inequality is the promotion of human rights globally. A movement for the globalization of human rights would mitigate inequality by spreading the idea that everyone is created equal and, therefore, everyone should stay equal in society. Society should not create inequalities because they violate human rights. The movement would bring a direct change to create a world where everyone is equal and no one is discriminated
