Black Power Movement he urged blacks to separate themselves from white society. He also hated King for adhering to non-violences civil rights workers had gone against King's ideal of integration, and were calling instead for 'Black Power'. Members of groups such as the Black Panthers openly carried guns.
Aims
Malcolm X's goal as a child was to become a lawyer, but he was told that he could not become one, as he was black. Later on in life, he joined the nation of Islam, and become a spokesman for the organisation. His main beliefs were that black Americans and white Americans should not be integrated (not live together). He said that he and his followers should still have equal rights, by any means possible, which he meant through violence (although he never said this). However his aims was To improve the self esteem of black people and improve their condition and rights.
Methods
Malcolm X's methods was to no matter what get freedom for black people even if this meant to do it in a violent way. Malcolm X had a different approach to martin Luther King he believed that peaceful protest would never get civil rights for black people he belied that only force would get equality for black African Americans.
Impact
Malcolm X also had a limited impact on the development of Civil Rights because being a member of the NOI meant he believed in separatism; but the way forward was to work with liberal whites, but Malcolm X dismissed that idea. Many considered him to be irresponsible and negative, because of instead uniting with other activists he openly criticised; he once said that King was an “Uncle Tom” because he was to willing to work with whites to further the movement. Also this made Black people look just as bad as the white people so this made other people think that black people didn’t deserve equality on the other hand MLK was trying to prove them wrong and Malcolm X was pulling him down
