St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital opened its doors on February 4, 1962, based on Danny Thomas’ dream that “no child should die in the dawn of life.” Since then, St. Jude has made incredible strides in childhood cancer research. The mission of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is to advance cures, and find means of prevention for pediatric catastrophic diseases through research and treatment. Consistent with the vision of their founder Danny Thomas, no child is denied treatment based on race, religion, or a family’s ability to pay. Some of the celebrities have been asked to set up autograph stands, and volunteer during the event. Attendees will be able to see recognizable faces, and meet their lifelong heroes. This is intended to attract teenagers and young adults to the venue.
Silent Auction:
We have asked our supporters, local sports teams, and museums to donate any memorabilia or works of art to our silent auction. The silent auction will last until an hour before the concert, that way people don not miss the main attraction. A list of items donated will be emailed to our attendees who pre-purchased tickets to the event at least one month before the event. This list can also be added to social media to peak interest for tickets not yet sold. Attendees will also have the opportunity to place bids during the event.
Catering:
Chick-Fil-A will be catering a buffet like setting for the event that evening. We wanted a caterer that was attractive to a lot of different demographics, and we thought Chick-Fil-A would be a very appropriate fit. Our employees at Toys “R” Us and some of the celebrities have been asked to volunteer and hand out the food at the event. We plan on having the food accessible from 4p.m.-8p.m. Along with catered food, there will be a candy bar. The candy bar will be open during the entire event, so that the children stay engaged all
