St Lawrence Community Experience

The Saint Lawrence University community is a melting pot of cultures and passions. From the first day I arrived on campus I could ascertain that this school was different. The Saint Lawrence community is diverse, adventurous, and athletic. I live down the hall with people from China, Mexico, Argentina, Canada, Spain, and many more places. This is something I never thought I would have the chance to experience but, it has only made me want to know more about these individual cultures. The students at Saint Lawrence cultivate a very adventurous community where ¾ of all students study abroad. When I was in high school, I thought I would only take a foreign language in high school. This means I would not need to take Spanish in college, however,
We are far from the best rugby team in this area, but, that is not the goal of this club. The goal is to create a love of the game no matter your skill level. We practice every day and have games on Saturdays, so it is a great way to meet new people and to stay in shape (or if you're like me to get in shape.) When I hear about a rugby team it is always that they are insane brunch and from my experience that is the same with my team. You need to be at least a little bit nutty to run full speed into another person with your only protection being a mouth guard. Furthermore, I am a member of the Outing Club on campus, which plans various trips into the nature for the student body. They are one of the plethora of theme houses strewn about the campus. These houses are open to the entire community and are focused on bringing people together who share a common interest. Additionally, I try to go to every one of Java House’s concerts that they hold. These concerts are a great place to discover new music and to just have a great time. The Saint Lawrence Community is a very diverse one, but through the theme houses and the vast number of clubs, there is a spot for everyone you just need to go out and look for
