On Wednesday September 16th of 2015, I will be going to the Smithsonian National Zoo with a group of my friends. The Zoo was founded in 1889. It is one of the oldest zoos in the world. There are 1800 animals that live in the zoo. One of the most famous spots in the zoo for tourists to see is the Giant Panda exhibit. The giant pandas recently just gave birth to baby pandas. I have only been to the Smithsonian National Zoo once. I went in eighth grade for a school wide field trip. I love seeing animals and going to the zoo. Back where I am from (Delaware) there are not any zoos or big public attractions for young kids and teenagers.…

For example, in the Madagascar exhibit, which is an indoor exhibit, it recreates a small section of the eighth continent. This exhibit contains a variety of wildlife that lives in Madagascar. The animals that are included in this exhibit are lemurs, hissing cockroaches, sifaka lemurs, Nile crocodiles and fossa. Another example is the African Plains. . LA zoo is fantastic and there are plenty of animals to observe. The employees were friendly and provided educational facts to the public. This is the second time that I visit LA Zoo because I want to observe the activities and behavior of some selected primates. I spent most of the time observing all the animals and learning about them and their native habitats. LA Zoo is laid out by continental area, so the primate exhibits are scattered throughout the zoo. I began with the New World monkey located in the South American section of the zoo. In exhibit area 75, I saw three species of New World monkeys. All of these species have prehensile tails. These species are the black-handed spider monkey, black howler monkey, and crested capuchin monkey.…

The museum I chose to visit for my Cultural Event Report is The Virginia Living Museum. I attended 11/8/2011 with my boyfriend and his daughter. I loved the museum; it had so many different aspects to it and exhibits to see. The two exhibits I was intrigued by were The Virginia’s World of Darkness Gallery and The Virginia’s Underground Valley. The Virginia’s World of Darkness Gallery had a lot of different animals from sharks, which scare me but intrigue me, to moon jellyfish. It intrigued me because I used to go to the beaches around Virginia and would see shark fins and dolphin fins and always wonder about the animals and would love to see them in their habitat. This way you can actually see them and learn about them at the same time. There were other animals there as well like pine voles, flying squirrels, ghost crabs, bats, tree frogs, lobsters, and sting rays. They range from amphibians, aquatic life, mammals, birds, and reptiles. You can see each set of animals in their own habitat. I would definitely suggest everyone visit this museum if they are in the area.…

What does our future hold for us? Will it fulfill our wishes and dreams? Will we have a happy family? Well in order to worry about our future, we have to learn from our past and how we have changed. About 65 million years ago, a meteor hit Earth and primates started to show up and eventually lead to our creation. There are many different kinds of primates that we have studied and learned from. We can go to different places to view and understand their life style. The Fort Worth zoo is one of those places where I went to observe and learn. I got to observe two white-cheeked gibbons and three ring-tailed Lemurs. Apart from their difference they also have some similarities.…

My favorite tree I saw today was the lodge pine. They looked like a Christmas tree but way bigger. The animals are so lucky they have so much space to roam around and the land is so pretty. They prettiest sight was the mama and baby bear getting a sip of water under one of the many waterfalls. Just try to imagine how cute that was. Adorable right! One of the park rangers told us that the coldest day ever recorded in Yellowstone National park was -66 degrees. Thankfully today it was in the seventies. Yellowstone is home to half the world's geothermal features. That's a lot of geysers and volcanoes. Old Faithful one of Yellowstone's most famous geysers, but not the largest, was once used as a laundromat. In the 1880’s members of the washburn-Langford expedition discovered that clothes placed inside the crater became totally clean once ejected from Old Faithful. At one time Old Faithful would erupt about every sixty minutes due to earthquake damage. Yellowstone experienced about one thousand to three thousand earthquakes annually. That's a lot of…

Zoos appear to be fun, but as you get more in depth are they what they seem to be? If animals could talk they would answer that question with “no” but, they cannot. So, instead of them telling you the horrors of zoos, I will. In zoos, animals are forced to live in a small area and have to learn to adapt to a new lifestyle. Some animals suffer from serious problems that they would most likely not experience if they were not in a zoo. Zoos affect the animals wildlife, their natural behavior, and zoos cause injuries and deaths upon animals and humans.…

The Glass Mixed Media by Therman Statom was also one of my favorites. It was a display case with items of glass inside. One might wonder if these objects are momentous of a life, a journey, or of a certain place. I only got to visit two more exhibits after the main one because the rest were closed for remodeling. I visited the African Art exhibit which contained things African use daily. It had the clothing, bags, weapons, and even chairs Africans make and decorate to add style into their life.…
