“The dim bedroom was windowless and odorless. We remedied this by spraying exuberant yellow streams all over the bunks. We jumped from bunk to bunk, spraying.” (Russell 225). This quote shows that when the girls first got to the home, Mirabella acted just like the rest of them. Later in Stage 3, we see that Mirabella doesn’t really change. “Almost everybody was fully bipedal. Almost. The pack was worried about Mirabella. Mirabella would rip foamy chunks out of the church pews and replace them with ham bones and girl dander.” (Russell 230). This quote shows that Mirabella hasn’t really changed from her past life. Mirabella is still acting like an uncivilized animal. Mirabella still doesn’t even know how to speak in English yet! (Russell 238). This shows that Mirabella is struggling with and not accepting the change to human culture.
Overall, it is pretty obvious that Jeanette is the dynamic character in the story and Mirabella is the static character in the story.
