We began the day with some group exercises that helped each other to interact and get to know one another better. The focus was on identifying similarities and differences and proved thought provoking, whilst having to communicate within a new group. I enjoy meeting people so I found this a fun exercise.…
The Associated Baptist Press who now goes by the ABPnews/Herald was formed out of a merger between The Religious Hand and ABPnews in January of 2014. The ABPnews/heralds is based out of Jacksonville, Florida. The associated Baptist Press was founded in 1990 and was the first and only Baptist independent news service around. The two associations merged because in the end it would help out both businesses to merge to consolidate and streamline the core operations of each company in which returned the elimination of duplicating their materials. The merge also allowed the Baptist to change and be more up to date on journalism and technology.…

Mary Sadie is a thirteen years old, 2004, champagne colored, Honda Accord. The chipped champagne paint covering her body is fading but Mary Sadie is brighter than ever in my eyes. Over the past two years, my car and I have experienced road trips across the Causeway, to Baton Rouge, to the beach, through the broken roads of Lakeview, and countless trips to the French Quarter, which have truly strengthened our bond with each other. Just because a car is old and used, does not mean that it sucks, is one of the many valuable lessons that I have learned from owning my first car, along with many adventurous experiences that I will cherish for my entire life.…

Encourage students to be as innovative as possible in completing this activity; some of the seemingly silliest ideas have become multimillion-dollar ventures. If you want them to develop their ideas even more, you may want to assign Step 1 as group homework and then discuss their progress as a class the next time you meet.…
Tell and Show why the topic is relevant to your audience: (AI) I will ask the classroom for a show of hands of who currently owns a home (my guess and hope is that those that already own are a small % of the class). I will then ask who knows the avg. age of generation Y FTH in the U.S. (take guesses, give correct age if not guessed, which is 26). I will then ask if home ownership was easy and affordable how many of you would like to own your first home by the time you are 26 or sooner!…
We played adding and subtracting games with blocks to improve math skills, wrote stories about different topics to improve reading and writing skills, built volcanoes to improve science skills, and arts and crafts. I came up with each activity on my own to accomplish the goal of creating a fun, yet educational learning environment for the students. At the end of the day other counselors and myself brought the students together for enrichment, a time for the children to let loose and be themselves. That was a time for the kids to dance, play sports, or just sit around and nap that was their time to rule the building. Outside of the site the students went on field trips that allowed them to be kids. The most memorable trip that was taking was our tip to Old Mississippi State Capitol where we learned about the history of our…

Bread Givers, written by Anzia Yezierska, is a story that took place on the Lower East Side of New York City during the 1920s. The story describes the struggles Sara Smolinsky, a Jewish immigrant, faces through out her life such as poverty, discrimination, oppressing patriarchal values, finding her identity while still being unaccepted by her father.…
On April 11th, I went to Lafayette Recreation Center to teach 4th and 5th graders about the Lemonade Day. However, the beginning of our trip was not that satisfying. For some reasons, our bus was not prepared that our team had to wait almost an hour in the sun to figure out what we can do. Some students from our team decided to take a cab to arrive on time to keep our promise with children and the others had to go by deans’ cars. Because we were in a car, a small place, we not only discussed about the Lemonade Day but also was able to get to know each other deeply. Luckily, our team was able to Lafayette Recreation Center on time safely. As planned, our team was divided into four different small groups to teach children effectively. Four small groups rotated to teach different children with different materials. After teach children successfully, we were able to get back to school on a bus. In the bus, we discussed about what we liked or disliked about teaching children and how it differed from what we imagined.…
At the beginning of the class, we were assigned to groups. The project leader from the class was Michael. In my assigned group there were three students: Julie, Christina and myself. We chose blood pressure and blood glucose for our topic. Christina was chosen to be the group leader. Julie and I were considered the “listeners” of the group, meaning we would complete whatever task Christina assigned us. I think this worked out well because I believe that I work better when I have someone telling me what I need to complete. We all gathered information regarding blood pressure and blood glucose and emailed it to Christina. She then used that information to make a poster board on our topics. She also went online and found handouts about blood glucose from a trusted and credible medical website (I believe it was the CDC website, but I am not completely sure).…
