Stealing is wrong
The following essay will cover what I learned about stealing. I will cover the following topics: What is stealing? What trust issues it could cause with my fellow classmates, teachers, friends, community, and family. What the possible consequences could be if I was seventeen and committed this crime. Possible ways to keep myself from stealing. How my actions affect my relationships with family, friends, and community. What I can do to affect people in a positive way. How do I want people to look at me. What could happen if I didn't stop this behavior? I found the legal definition of stealing on legal-dictionary.com. It states that stealing (or the legal term, larceny) is the wrongful and fraudulent taking and carrying away, by one person, of the mere personal goods, of another, from any place, with a felonious intent to convert them to his, the taker's use, and make them his property, without the consent of the owner. Larceny is usually a nonviolent crime. It was made to punish criminals who stole without face to face encounters. Unlike robbery which is sometimes forced or violent. Grand larceny was any larceny of property worth more than a certain amount of money. Any larceny of property worth less than that amount was called petit larceny and was punished less severely. Trust issues could develop with your friends, family, school, and your community if the they are aware you are stealing. Once you lose someone's trust it is very hard to earn it back. Your family may treat you differently and hide things from you and lock away anything they might think you would possibly steal. Also if you lie about stealing something but later is found out they will hardly ever believe you when you say you didn't do something even if you are really innocent. They might feel it ruins their reputation if they know or are friends with teachers or other students parents who know about it. Your friends may not want to hangout or be seen with you if everyone knows you

In this scenario the crime is larceny. Larceny is the unlawful taking and carrying away of someone else’s property with the intent to permanently deprive the owner of their possession. (Roger LeRoy Miller, 2008) It would not be like burglary because there was no breaking and entering involved and it would not be considered a robbery because the items were not taken by force.…

An undergraduate essay need not be particularly innovative in its approach and insights, but it must be the product of the student's own dialogue with the subject. Essays which do not answer the question can only be regarded as demonstrating some knowledge of the topic, they cannot be said to show understanding of the topic. Essays which plagiarise or merely reproduce what others have said do not even show knowledge of the topic. Plagiarism is thus not merely a matter of theft, it involves an entirely unacceptable subversion of the learning process.…

Larceny is “the unlawful taking of personal property with intent to deprive the rightful owner of it permanently”, defined by the Merriam - Webster dictionary. There are different levels of larceny. There is Grand Larceny which is usually defined as theft of a more significant amount of property. In the United States it is often defined as items or currency that is valued as $400 or more. In New York grand larceny applies to amounts of $1000 or more. Grand larceny is classified as a Class A felony. To bluntly say it, larceny is stealing from others. No matter what the motives or reasons behind stealing are, it is still wrong. I imagine there are a million of motives for someone to convince himself or herself that it is worth the risk to steal something. Some other people might also not have the conscience to feel wrong for stealing. A large part of this is because people do not understand who or what they are harming when they steal. Most people don’t care and only worry about their problems. Even after being caught someone might only feel bad for himself or herself.…

Shoplifting seems like a victimless crime, but the damages caused are far from minor. I myself was recently caught shoplifting, and now I need to pay for the consequences of my crime. There are many reasons why people shoplift, it can be a obsessive compulsion disorder (OCD) all the way to a dare from a friend, either way Shoplifting does not only affect the individual, but it also affects the community, the retailer, and the consumer.…

Today shoplifting is one of the most common forms of theft in the United States. Shoplifting is now the number one cause for smaller stores to fail in today's market. The small stores are also the ones the usually carry the smaller items which are the easiest to receive the "five fingered discount" on. The reason shoplifting has become so big is because the thieves some how justify their actions and they also don't consider themselves thieves. The most common shoplifters are children and the senior citizens. It is the housewives and the college students that some how justify their stealing and don't consider themselves thieves.…

There is a lot of public embarrassment involved with shoplifting too. If an offender isn't given an alternate choice, he or she will have to go to court. The court process is public for anyone who wants to go, and rumors start getting spread about shoplifters, who may not want anyone to know. When the privacy of a shoplifter, ashamed of his/her crime, is violated, that person may have to deal with mockery at school and may even lose friends over the fact that some people may lose trust in the accused. This makes the process even more difficult for the offender because they may feel that…

Stealing was an everyday thing for me, sometimes even twice a day. It hadn’t really taken off until my friends and I had access to transportation like one of our friends getting a car, and then we had no limits as to where we could go or how many stores we could go to. I also was trying to grab as much stuff as I could every time I went, trying to set a record for some obscene reason. I also was not the only one in my group that did this; I always had multiple friends join me and help me which only aided my bad habits.…
