The field of Stem prepares and provides many job opportunities for your future. One of the many jobs that stem prepares you for is to be a Dietitian or Nutritionist. Dietitians and Nutritionists are experts in food and nutrition. They promote health and manage many food related diseases such as diabetes. They advise people on what to eat in order to live a healthy lifestyle or achieve a specific health/food goal. They might also go around to schools or businesses and speak to people about healthy food choices and a healthier lifestyle. They can work in many different environments including hospitals, clinics or nursing homes. They can also work for the government. To become a Dietitian or Nutritionist you have to graduate from
an approved bachelor’s degree program, complete a supervised internship, pass a national examination, and complete the continuing education requirements. Some states also require that dietitians and nutritionists be licensed. The average annual salary for a Dietitian is $56,300 as of 2013. The average annual salary for a Nutritionist is $57,910 as of 2015. The number of jobs for a Dietitians or Nutritionists, as of 2014, was 66,700. The projected growth rate of both these jobs is sixteen percent from 2014 to 2024. This rate is much faster than the growth rate of other related jobs. Although Tennessee only had 1,210 jobs for Dietitians and Nutritionists in 2010, Tennessee is expected to have 1,420 jobs for Dietitians and Nutritionists in 2020. Stem is applied to the job of being a dietitian and nutritionists because of the science and math required to become licensed.
They are required to take many science classes such as biology, biochemistry, food chemistry and anatomy. You also have to take math classes such as statistics. You might also have to take courses such as sociology and psychology. Dietitians and Nutritionists also use technology in their job. A Dietitians or Nutritionists might use different kinds of technology to provide help to their clients. Computers, interactive models and online plans might be used by Dietitians and Nutritionists. The can diagnose and treat any type of animal they are trained for. They can work in a clinic, on a farm, or any other type of place where animals can be found. To become a veterinarian you first you have to complete your undergraduate degree. Then, you must earn your Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from an accredited veterinary college. After that, you must earn a license by passing the North American Veterinary Licensing Exam and gain experience by interning with an experienced veterinarian. After this point, you can either choose to continue being a veterinarian or acquire a specialty. You have many options if you choose a specialty. As of 2015, the median salary of a veterinarian was $88,490. Veterinarians can get paid up to $166,970 and a minimum of $53,210. In between the years 2014 and 2024, the job has a predicted growth of nine percent. This is faster than the average growth rate of jobs, which is seven
percent.
Stem is applied in many different areas in the job of being a veterinarian. A Veterinarian will also take some math classes including, algebra, trigonometry and statistics. A Veterinarian uses technology in many ways throughout his job. He will use it to give x-rays to the animals, he might use it in physical therapy for the animals, and he might use it to monitor animals after treatments. A veterinarian will also have to be very good at engineering because sometimes they might have to build something as a solution to a problem such as fixing a cage that is broken. The Stem class would be very beneficial to a veterinarian or someone that is thinking about becoming a veterinarian.
Another stem career is a pharmacist. A Pharmacist prepares medications that will be given to the patients following a doctor's orders. They can also provide medical advice to people that are confused about their medication. They might conduct health and wellness screenings or give shots such as the flu shot. A Pharmacist can work in many different environments including, pharmacies, drug stores, or hospitals. Many pharmacists work in big grocery store chains such as Walmart, Walgreens, CVS, and Rite-Aid. Pharmacist first have to graduate with an undergraduate degree. After that, they must earn their Pharmacy degree and pass two exams to officially become licensed and be able to work as a pharmacist. The salary of a pharmacist ranges to $85,000 to $135,000. The median pay for a pharmacist is $110,321. Although this job pays good, the growth rate of this job is a little slow. The growth rate for pharmacist is three percent. The number of jobs for a pharmacist was 297,100 in 2014.
Stem relates to job field of Pharmacy in many ways. Pharmacists have to use science, technology and math throughout their work day. Pharmacists must take human anatomy, biology, organic chemistry, and physics. Pharmacists will also take algebra, geometry, calculus, and statistics. These subjects will help the pharmacists make the right calculations about prescriptions, give wise medical advice to customers, and prepare you for the basics about human health. Pharmacists also use a lot of technology in their daily work. They must use technology to make prescriptions, label the right prescriptions, monitor medication records. They also might use technology to promote and advertise their business. Pharmacists can use the internet when they are unsure of how a medication works.
