In Robert Frost’s poem The Lockless Door the man in the poem was in control, he did not have to isolate himself in his house for all those years. He could have gone out and been with people rather than by himself. And in Ghost House the man had no control over being isolated. Because the only people that came into the scene would not talk to him. Just like in Carrie.
Winslow Homer’s models are all alone by choice. In The Fog Warning the fisherman could have brought a person out fishing with him, because we do not know if the man is lost of just a few miles from the shore. Just like in The Gulf Stream. The man could have brought another person along with him, but chose not to because it probably was safer for him not too. And finally in After the Hurricane, the man would have been better off bringing another person along with him because we do not know if he is hurt or not based on the painting. He is lying face down on a bunch of rocks with a shattered boat around him. Stephen King was born in Portland Maine on September 21st, 1947. When King was two his father was not around, leaving everything up to Nellie Ruth, Kings mother. She successfully raised King and his adopted older brother. King and his mother and brother moved to Wisconsin, then to Illinois, from there they went to Connecticut before finally moving back to Maine.
As a little kid King witnessed a good friend of his get struck and killed by a train. He did not remember the event, but when he came home from a playdate with his friend he was silent and in shock. Later
