Stereotypes In Our Society
There are stereotypes everywhere you look in the world, both in and out of school and class, at work, even with friend, and family. There also so many different types of stereotypes like gender and race. Even being a tenager or an athlete can be stereotyped. What we normally don’t see is how people deal with these stereotypes on a day to day basis, and how much they can impact the way a person thinks and even views themselves. People can either take these stereotypes as compliments and use them to bring themselves up or view them as bad things and let them bring them down. Because stereotypes are used so frequently in our everyday lives, some people may not even realize they are there and are even being used at all. Some people think that they don’t belong to any stereotypes, but they most likely are apart of more than one, and they just don’t realize it.

With all the stereotypes out there being used everyday people usually just find their own ways to deal with them. In our class data there were multiple people who said there interviewee just ignores stereotypes, which seems like something many people would do. There were a few people that said there interviewee tries to make those stereotypes that are presented in everyday life as jokes. Because there are stereotypes everywhere in life you would think everyone would just ignore them, but not everyone can. Some people may view their stereotypes in a bad was, they could think “Oh I’m a nerd, I have to be smart,” so they put way to much pressure on themselves, and things like that. Many people also assume that athletes just do sports and workout and don’t care about their grades, which isn’t necessarily true, thus it is a stereotype. Someone with that stereotype may think “People don’t expect me to do homework, so why should I,” so they don’t do it. Those are some ways stereotypes could bring someone
