Paul Feig’s Ghostbusters debuted on July 11, 2016 and immediately got tons of backlash because the protagonists Erin Gilbert (Kristen Wiig), Abby Yates (Melissa McCarthy), Jillian Holtzman (Kate McKinnon) and Patty Tolan (Leslie Jones) are all women. Due to this everyone highly disagreed with the casting, in response the movie got many negative reviews. Many of the comments were pointing out that the main characters are now women, but nobody took the time to watch the movie. Ernie Hudson knocked the idea of an all women cast at first saying, “If it has nothing to do with the other two movies, and it's all female, then why are you calling it Ghostbusters? I love females. I hope that if they go that way, at least they'll be funny, and if they're not funny at least hopefully it'll be sexy. I love the idea of including women, I think that's great.
