School has these incredibly high expectations for students to attain amazing grades. The school makes it sound as, if we don’t do as well as some of our classmates then we will not succeed in life. For some teenagers, grades aren’t as important as their physical or musical career, but school's are driving academic intelligent into our heads. Second, it’s the worst of times for teenagers because there are more bullies that are growing more creative. Having access to technology teenagers can still bully other kids in their own home. BJ Foster, Director of All Pro Dad say, “The Internet has provided a permanent and public place for all of that to be exposed and mercilessly judged” (n.pag.) Bullies ruin a few teens' lives so much that they won’t get to experience what life is after high school. In the past, there would have been no way for teens' to bully one another in their own homes. Lastly, it has become harder for teens' to control puberty and their hormones. Teens' bodies are harder to control and as an effect of that they smell and look worse than normal. Society thinks of all teens' as reckless thugs just because a small group of hoodlums have defined the rest of the teens'. This makes it impossible for teenagers to gain any respect from adults because teens' are seen as one of those kids. Not only in society are teens' placed into groups, but they are also placed into groups at school. Every school has its fair share of jocks, nerds, and outcast. There will always be a group to be labeled with at school. Teens' are automatically succumbed to judgment because of what group they are labeled in. Tracy McVeigh, a chief reporter for the Observer says, “Young people have so many labels and stereotypes slapped on them. What is undeniably true is that the evidence suggests that rates of depression, self-harm and anxiety among young people are at unprecedented levels” (n.pag.). It’s every teens’ dream to fit in with the cool kids and it puts a great deal of stress on them. When they are denied entry to be with the cool kids it can lead to more self harm then there has ever been in the past making it the worst times to be a teen. In like manner, all teens are stereotyped to be lazy workers. This is one of the hardest stereotypes to break as a hardworking teen. Every adult automatically assumes that teens are lazy workers, but when they work with a teen who can get the job done effectively it’s mind boggling. It’s the worst of times
