Steroids can also lead to addiction like other drugs. With addiction you have mood swings, fatigue, and loss of appetite (drugabuse.org, “What do anabolic steroids do to my brain?”). Some examples of athletes who have lost it all due to steroid use would be, Lance Armstrong, Alex Rodriguez, and Barry Bonds (biography.com, “Foul Play: Athletes Who Have Been Banned or Busted”). Athletes are put under a substantial amount of pressure from their peers and coaches to out perform everyone on the field. Many of these athletes could be amazing with time but, not everyone wants to wait like others. This is a main cause of steroid usage. If you want to get big quick without working hard and have it be legal it is not possible. All the athletes you see in the NBA and NFL it took years upon years of training to get where they're at. It does not just happen overnight. Kids look up to superior athletes as role models. If an athlete get caught cheating and gets away with it all the kids looking up the athlete will think it is alright to cheat because they can get away with it also. Think about the team members and the coaches of the one who uses steroids. Immediately the team is tainted with the reputation of cheaters just because of one person. For example the Boston Red Sox World Series run of 2004 tainted because David Ortiz admitted to taking steroids at that time? (Taylor Hooton, “3 Good Reasons Not to Take Steroids”) Everyone wants to be big, strong, and look good but, not everyone wants work and eat healthy.
If you want to get bigger naturally it will take time and you will have to dedicate to it. Some things that make you a better athlete and bigger are working out with someone better than you. By working out with someone better than you pushes you and motivates you to get to their level. Another thing would be work on your weak points in your body. You may not notice it but if you work on the smallest weak points it will make you better. Athletes are built from the ground up and if you spend all your time just working on your arms you can create a muscular imbalance. The last thing would be to flush your diet of all bad or unhealthy foods and
drink.
Steroids can destroy lives and end careers. Steroids are not wanted in the sports world and are definitely not needed to be big, strong and healthy. There is no reason why you would ever need to take steroids all they can do for you is make you stronger not make you cooler or more interesting. The bottom line is that steroids are not good for your health and do not let people change your judgement.
