Harvey begins the book by talking about questions “Ask Steve” portion of his radio show and how it was the inspiration for writing the book. He sees this book as playbook for women who have had some struggle with men in relationships. Clearly, Harvey knows something about bad relationships as he has been married three times. That said, it is tends to be a good to avoid mistakes and learning from someone who has made them definitely won’t hurt. Harvey frames the book nicely by implying that he is snitching on male tactics by stating that men count on you continuing “to get your advice from other women”, this fact is really what will draw you in to this book. …show more content…
Harvey’s thesis of what drives men is simply broken down into who they are, what they do, and how much they make. Extending past that, he believes that until a man has achieved these things, he simply will be too busy to focus on you (no matter what your level of commitment). Harvey continues to draw on from various life experiences that detail how and why men have the need to not only win, but to dominate. What I like about most of the portions in “mind set of man” is that he refrains from ‘completing the thought’ and giving out advice, but rather to give the reader a glimpse into the male and letting them come to their own
