Stillnox has many different names, Zolpidem, Ambiem and Lorex to name a few. Zolpidem is a prescription drug used for treating insomnia, it works quickly (within 15 minutes) and the effects last for around 3 hours (PubChem, 2016). As Stillnox is extremely effective in helping insomnia sufferers fall asleep a Stillnox dependence occurs and can often lead to addiction. In extreme circumstances death from overdose of Stillnox has and can occur. This can affect society in a number of different ways such as the emotional effect of addiction to Stillnox or death and how it affects the person’s whole life.

The skeleton formula of the drug Stillnox (C19H21N3O) allows for the organic compounds in the drug to be identified, the overall compound is identified as an aromatic heteropolycyclic (DrugBank, 2016). This strengthens their dependence on the drug to sleep and causes many users to escalate their doses without medical guidance (AddictionCenter, 2016). This is what leads to Zolpidem dependance occurring. According to Eric J. Olson, M.D Zolpidem is not likely to be habit forming if taken at the recommended dosage however, it can become addictive if the patient uses it outside the recommended dosage range. Zolpidem dependance generally leads to addiction as the person needs Zolpidem to fall asleep they will start to use it more and more as they grow tolerant to their dosage at that point. If the patient takes excessive amounts the risk of overdosing and death is a
