Stop Motion Animation Essay

For my visual I did a stop motion animation explaining how Edmond Dantès evolves and changes throughout the story. Dantès started to evolve and change when he was sent to the Châtaeu D’If, so I started my video by describing what Dantès was like before he was sent to prison. For the video, I used both words and pictures to show how Dantès changes throughout the story.
The beginning of the video started out with the quote, “He was a tall, slender young man, no more than twenty years old, with dark eyes and hair as black as ebony” (1). I also drew what Dantès’s appearance looked like based on the description. The person Dantès was in love with also changed. In the beginning of the video I used stop motion animation and words to show Dantès’s love for Mercédès. By the end of the story Dantès was in love with Haydée instead of Mercédès. I also used stop motion animation and words to show Dantès’s love for Haydée. There were other things besides Dantès’s appearance and love life that changed. In the video I also showed that Dantès once made a living by being a sailor. After Dantès escaped the Châtaeu D’If he was able to become wealthy by finding the treasure Faria told him about. Another aspect that changed about Dantès was the fact that he lost his innocence. Once Dantès escaped the Châtaeu D’If he became vindictive, crafty, and cruel, which I represented by using a quote from the novel. I also used a quote to show that once Dantès escaped Châtaeu D’If he had a feeling that he didn’t have before which was: vengeance. By using stop motion animation and words I was able to show how Edmond Dantès evolved throughout the novel. Dantès appearance, love life, wealth, and personality changed.
