A heavy cloud of gray has been hanging over the harbor city of Layset for days now. The darkness and constant cold make the city a less than desirable for pretty much anything. With any luck though the storm will pass soon and bring brighter skies. But the weather did carry some positive …show more content…
bits about it. Like for the fact that the worse the weather the less people are out. Which leads to a quicker escape on my part with a less likely chance of being seen. A ding from the bell caused from the opening door drew attention. In walks a tall soaked man. Falling, thick droplets fly to the ground from dark, dark hair. Thoroughly soaked the man did not look happy.
Somehow I managed to hide a snort at his misery.
A soft noise from behind the counter shows that I'm not the only who's laughing. I turn my head only slightly to see the cute, little barmaid smiling. I believe her laugh was slightly less cynical and belittling than mine.
Smiling like the girl the man walks up to the counter and the two begin a conversation that I can't pick up on, no matter how hard I try. Eavesdropping is a really nasty habit I have gotten myself into isn't it.
Sweet laughs mingle and dance across the air. Feeling out of place I shift my body to face the window even further despite the extreme chill wafting from the thin window pane. Pulling the coat I'm wearing tight, I can feel the threads straining themselves to keep the clothing together. The sharp pain still doesn't leave even as I pull the edges tighter and tighter.
Slowly the laughter and conversation fades and I hear heavy footsteps come closer to the front of the building, closer to the exit. Finally the happy ding of a small bell signals the leaving of the tall rain soaked man. The breath I had been holding is slowly released and I can focus on the rain droplets sticking to the window. Behind the drops of water I see a man slowly walking down the street. His eyes flicker up to see me. Locking gazes for half a second I realize he is the man from inside just a second ago, then i beg he won't remember my face. I have to simply disappear after
tonight. Bringing my now cooling drink to my lips. I take a small sip. Tonight should run without a hitch. But a small surprised would be a little fun that I wouldn't quite mind..

The rain has increased since this afternoon. The sky crackles and rumbles while lighting illuminates an otherwise dark night. Creeping along the edges of cold stone a smile appears on my face as I spot a warm glow from a nearby building.
Just what I was looking for!
