Story Of David Mckay
In 1897 David O. McKay served a mission in Great Britain, during his time in Stirling Scotland he had an experience that changed his life forever. While returning home for the evening he noticed a stone on a building with the saying “What E’er Thou Art, Act Well Thy Part” this became a lifelong motto for him. He decided from that point forward he would always work hard and be the best person that he could possibly be. For the remainder of his life he served in many capacities but always to the best of his ability.
When I entered the MTC in October of 1996 a duplicate of this stone and President McKay’s story were on display. I enjoyed the story and the idea that I would be serving in the very same mission that David O. Mckay had served in.

I remember him saying that being a part of a good deed whether big or small makes you feel important, I have not forgotten that. Which is why I continue to do community service to this day. Dave himself is involved in so many different organizations and he continues to go the extra mile. I was involved in a community service club and our group needed help we didn't know where to begin. However, Dave came in one day and told us about places and events we could participate; he even gave us a long list of things to do. That is when he made me realize that a person can volunteer at any age and that any bit…

Jimmy boy slowly became the teacher and I the pupil. Sadly enough, Jimmy boy died a tragic and untimely death. Even though Jimmy boy is no longer with us, his divine thoughts made me ultimately abandon my own ‘American Dream’ and return to my country with a purpose of working for the poor. I am yet to fulfill my ambition (rather his dream), but yes I can say with some comfort that I have done quite a bit since the time I left the…

People often have thoughts about other people having more enviable achievements than themselves do, but even if they think about doing things to change, their lack of perseverance still causes a poor outcome next time. Benjamin Franklin is one of the best example of a successful image throughout the history. Although having no eminent family background, he had himself work-hard to become a admirable person, one of the Founding Fathers of United States. Everyone fairly has 24 hours per day, yet he was able to surpass so many people in different realms. Benjamin Franklin had been through innumerable setbacks in his entire life, but other than making up excuses for his previous failures, on the other hand, Benjamin Franklin faced, understood,…
